Craft the Perfect Birthday Card with Wildflower Designs and Celebration Bundle

 Hi Friends!

Who doesn’t love a beautifully crafted birthday card? During my recent Facebook and YouTube Live, I demonstrated how to make a stunning birthday card using the Wildflower Birthday Designer Paper and Birthday Celebrations Bundle. This card is the perfect combination of playful and elegant, with a few embellishments, a pre-made floral image, a cute frame, and just the right touch of gold trim to make it extra special.

The Wildflower Birthday Designer Paper brings in the perfect pop of color, while the Birthday Celebrations Bundle adds the perfect elements for a fun and festive design.

I also incorporated a pre-made floral image from the designer paper, that gave the card an elegant touch and saved time without sacrificing beauty. The cute frame behind the sentiment gives the card structure, making it both fun and polished. To finish it off, I added some gold trim for that touch of luxury that makes all the difference.

I walked through every step of creating this card during the live demonstration, and I’ve also uploaded a step-by-step video tutorial on my YouTube channel for those of you who want to follow along at your own pace. How To Use The Cottage Wreath Bundle To Make A Birthday Card!

 Hi Friends!

Well, my Christmas cards are made, written in, Christmas letter included with family ones, addressed and stamped and all ready to go!

I am so excited!  This is such a big job as we send out almost 150 cards each year. I say "we" because hubby gets to take them to the post office, lol.

I started creating Christmas cards in May, and I am ready to move on to other types of cards now.

So when I needed to create a card for my Seniors group, I reached for Cottage Wreaths and told myself to create a card that can be Christmas if the Ladies wanted, or birthday.  I created 2 kits each for them, and most of them made one of each - one Christmas and one Birthday.

On Monday night I shared how to create the card during my Monday Night Live Stamping on my FACEBOOK PAGE <-- click this link to join us most Monday nights at 8 pm (Pacific Time).

Here's the card we made ...

I embossed behind the die cut images with the Leaf Fall embossing folder. I was so glad Stampin' Up! decided to keep this gorgeous folder once the July-Dec Mini Catalogue retires!

You can find a list of supplies I used below my signature in this post.

Magnolia Card - Tilda With Umbrella

Today I decided to follow the instructions in the Splitcoast Stampers tutorial for a Center Step card.  I am still stuck in the Elegant Soiree designer paper rut, so out it came again.  I am excited that Stampin' Up! is not going to retire the buttons this year.  I have some and want to use them on more class cards.  Now I can!
This card uses a non Stampin' Up! main image.  It is Tilda With Umbrella from the 2010 Bon Voyage Collection. . . . . . .
I stamped Tilda in StazOn on Stampin' Up! watercolour paper.  Then coloured her with my Stampin' Write Markers and an Aqua Pen (colours listed below).  I used nestabilities Labels 4 Small (largest one) to cut her out, then used Labels 4 (largest one) to cut a mat, which I spritzed with Champagen Mist Shimmer Spritz (you can just see the shimmer a bit).  I added 5 Naturals Designer Buttons (Stampin' Up!) on each side of the step, and put a circle of Baja Breeze under each one before I glued it on the DSP.  I stamped "Dot Dot Dot" in Baja Breeze on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and put it behind the mat.  The mat and the image piece are popped up on dimensionals.
Here's a closer view of the buttons .......
And a closer view of the stamped and coloured image ......

Inside I used another piece of Elegant Soiree DSP and cut a Top Note Die out of Very Vanilla.  I stamped a stamp that comes from a retired stamp set - Sweet Summer - in Early Espresso and coloured it with Baja Breeze and Crumb Cake Stampin' Write Markers.......
Marker colours used:
   Hair - Daffodil Delight
   Skin - Blushing Bride
   Pants - Not Quite Navy
   Shirt - Baja Breeze
   Shoes - Crumb Cake
Umbrella - Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake
   Grass - Pear Pizzazz

A Fond Farewell to Elegant Soiree DSP

I knew this day was coming, but did not want to think about my very favourite designer paper, Elegant Soiree, retiring!  Tonight I pulled it out to do some creating with it.

I used Awash With Flowers and did some paper piecing as well.  It is hard to see, but I did the stamping on Shimmery White cardstock, ah so much subtle bling.  I love it!
There was no word about the Seam Binding ribbon retiring, I am so jazzed that it will still be around and in all the current colours.  Could it be they are bringing out more colours????  Guess we will have to wait until later this month to find that out.  If you would like one of the new 2011-12 Idea Book and Catalogue email me and I will make sure you get one.
Stamps:  Awash With Flowers, Create A Cupcake (sentiment)
Ink:  Basic Black, Pear Pizzazz
Paper:  Elegant Soiree DSP (2 different patterns)
Cardstock:  Very Vanilla, Basic Black, Shimmery White
Other:  Baja Breeze Seam Binding
Thanks for visiting today, I hope you have a super day.

Strength and Hope Birthday Card

Today I created another card with the stamp set "Strength and Hope".  I absolutely love the versatilty of this set of 4 stamps!

I created the background piece by stamping first the words in Peach Parfait, then I randomly stamped the butterfly in VersaMark and used White Embossing Powder on it.  Then I used So Saffron ink and daubed it over top of the butterflies so they popped out.  Lots of white on this card.  After I made it I really did not like it a lot, but now that it has dried and the inks have mellowed a bit, it is growing on me.
Stamps:  Strength and Hope, Build A Cupcake
Ink:  VersaMark, Peach Parfait, So Saffron, Cajun Craze
Markers:  Tangerine Tango
Cardstock:  Whisper White, Tangerine Tango, Peach Parfait
Other:  Lots of Tags - Label 3, Basic Pearls, Vintage brad, Peach Parfait 1/2" Stitched Poly ribbon
Thanks for visiting today, Happy Stampin' .....

Swirly Birthday- The Negatives

Yesterday I posted THIS card using the swirls from the Swirly Die.  Today I have a card for you that uses the negative pieces that are leftover when you remove the swirly pieces from the cardstock.  I think it is quite effective .....
I just adhered the negative pieces (which were originally 2" x 7") to a piece of whisper white cardstock (5 1/2 x 4) making sure where the swirls were removed was left open so the white from underneath shows through.  Then in the middle where the 2 pieces meet, I added some Baja Breeze Seam Binding and a double bow. The sentiment is stamped in Baja Breeze on whisper white cardstock and punched out with the scallop oval punch.  Very simple but, oh  my, so effective.  Don't you think so??  I did the Quilting Technique again on this card.
Stamps:  Sincere Salutations
Ink:  Baja Breeze
Cardstock:  Baja Breeze, Whisper White
Other:  Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Swirly Die (negatives used), Scallop Oval punch
There you go, a card made out of pieces that are usually thrown away, or saved in a scrap bin for later!
Now go out and create a card of your own!

Awash With Flowers Birthday Card

My very talented downline, Shanna, had a card that used this image from Awash With Flowers, and she had coloured the center of the flower with a yellow marker so it looks like a daisy.  I absolutely love her card, and decided I would use the idea of the image on a card as well.  Here is what I came up with....
I used one of the new products from the upcoming Summer Mini Catalogue that goes live on May 1st.  It is the Early Espresso Baker's Twine.
Stamps:  Awash With Flowers, Create A Cupcake (sentiment)
Ink:  Early Espresso, Always Artichoke, Daffodil Delight Stampin' Write Marker
Cardstock:  Whisper White, Early Espresso
Other:  Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Modern Label and Word Window punches, Early Espresso Baker's Twine

Black and Red Owl Birthday Card

This card came to me in the wee hours of the morning.   I had it in my mind using the Swirly Die instead of the branch from the 2 Step Bird Punch, but did not have it with me in the trailer.  So had to make do.
I used Basic Black for the main card, then spritzed some Champagne Mist Shimmer Spritz on it so that it looks like stars in the night sky.  I love every one of the owls I create from the 2 Step Owl Punch by Stampin' Up!  Every one is different, but they are all so cute.  This one makes a great masculine birthday card.
Stamps:  Messages For Mom
Ink:  Basic Black
Paper:  Neutrals Patterns Designer Series Paper
Cardstock:  Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Poppy Parade, Whisper White
Other:  2 Step Owl Punch, 2 Step Bird Punch, Wide Oval, Scallop Oval and Large Oval punches, Champagne Mist Shimmer Spritz, Basic Pearls
Thanks for visiting, I am home again and off and running with classses.

Owl Birthday Make 'n Take cards

On Saturday, April 16th I will be participating in a Business Fair in Port Alberni, BC with my downline, Shanna.  This is the 3rd one and they are a lot of fun.  We set up a table that has cards for sale, catalogues, scrapbooking, and other great ideas.  We also have a Make 'n Take table where anyone can come and create a quick card.  This year we will be doing a birthday card using the 2 Step Owl Punch and some retired cardstock, DSP and ribbon we have hanging around.  Here is the card I designed for it ....

I am sad that with Sale-A-Bration over, this little owl stamp is gone.  But I will continue to use it because it is just too cute to hide away.
I would love for you to come to the Business Fair on Saturday, April 16, from 9 am to 4 pm.  It will be held in the brand new Athletic Hall which is up by the arena.  If you would like to come, and need directions, please EMAIL ME and I will send them to you.  There will be approx 50 vendors, the local Bread Of Life Society will have the kitchen open with soup and sandwiches for sale, and there will be draws.  I heard one of the vendors will also be having a silent auction for $1000 worth of their product!
Hope to see you there.  Stop by our table and make one of these happy little cards.
Bye for now, off to the beach again .......

Nature Walk Birthday Wishes

This card came together so nice and quick and easy.  I knew what colours I wanted to use and what stamp set.  Then I decided to make the ruffle around the oval with the Eyelette Border punch.
I cut an 11 x 1/2" strip of Blushing Bride cardstock, then punched it with the Eyelette Border punch.  Then I put adhesive along the unpunched edge and cut between each scallop to within 1/8" or so of the punched part starting on the unpunched edge (hope that is clear).  By adhering one scallop, bending the strip at the cut, and adhering the next scallop, you can go around almost any shape you want.  An instant scallop edge!  For the sentiment, I punched out 3 Scallop Oval punches in Blushing Bride and adhered them whole and cut up to fully frame the Wide Oval sentiment.
I also added some Champagne Mist Shimmer Spritz on the whisper white layer, then used a texture plate on that layer while the cardstock was still damp from the spritz.  It sure makes the impression deeper.  And the shimmer from the spritz will brighten anyone's day!
I inked the butterfly in Blushing Bride then used the Perfect Plum marker to add some colour to it.
Stamps:  Nature Walk, Absolutely Fabulous
Ink:  Perfect Plum (for the sentiment but I stamped it off first on scrap paper so it is not so dark), Blushing Bride
Markers:  Pear Pizzazz, Perfect Plum
Cardstock:  Whisper White, Blushing Bride
Other:  Backgrounds 1 Texture Plate, Champagne Mist Shimmer Spritz, Eyelette Border Punch, Wide Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Ovals die
Thanks for visiting today.  I hope your weekend was great.  I went to visit my Mom on her 84th birthday.  We had Dairy Queen Strawberry Sundaes instead of cake because she loves ice cream!
