Magnolia Card - Barefoot Edwin - Mojo119

This is my very first Magnolia card coloured with Copic Markers. It is my entry for the Mojo Monday Week 119 Sketch HERE.
This started out as a card for a new Baby Boy, but I think it will take me a while to let go of it. I sometimes have issues adopting out my creations!
The card measures 5.5" x 5.5". The cardstock and papers are all Stampin' Up. I used Whisper White for the base, then a layer of Chocolate Chip, and a layer of a retired Designer Paper "Afternoon Tea". I also used Soft Sky, Kiwi Kiss and Groovy Guava cardstock. Here's the picture of the cardfront:
I used my nestability to cut out the Chocolate Chip scallop square and cut a piece of Soft Sky to fit in the middle of it. Then I ran a strip of Chocolate Chip 1" Satin Ribbon out to the left edge and under the first Chocolate Chip layer. I put a piece of a different patterned DSP from the same package on top of the ribbon. I used my nesties again to cut out both circles (soft sky and whisper white). I had already stamped and coloured the Barefoot Edwin image on the Whisper White piece. Edwin has Irridescent Ice embossing powder (also SU) on his wings. The Martha Stewart leaf punch in Kiwi Kiss was used for under the sentiment and the flower. The sentiment is Chocolate Chip Scallop Oval, then Soft Sky Large Oval, and finally Whisper White Small Oval punches and a sentiment from the Short And Sweet SU set.
Here is a close up of the flower embellishment:

I tried to make the flower from the first Magnolia INK magazine (on page 64) without having that punch. I used the retired SU punch "Snowflake" and cut off the rounded tip pieces, leaving only leaf-like points. These were folded in half and I rubbed some Sahara Sand ink on them with a dry short bristle paint brush. I layered on in Groovy Guava over one in Soft Sky. Then I put a silk flower from the Pretties Kit under them. I used a brad from Doodlebug Design Boutique Brads - Lily White Assortment to hold all 3 layers together. More MS leaf punches in Kiwi Kiss cardstock are under the flower embellie.
I can't thank my good friend Candy (HERE is a link to her blog) for the Colouring Tutorial she came over and gave me yesterday. She interrupted her whole day to bring her Copics to my house to play, and I truly appreciate it! Visit her blog, boy is that one talented lady!
Thanks for looking, Happy New Year to you and yours.
Bye for now............... Glenda Mollet

I am thrilled to see you have posted your first Magnolia card. You did a grand job on this! Now you have to show me how to make that flower without the right punch LOL .........

This card is so relaxing to view! I like the embellishment you used on the top right corner. Edwin looks quite pensive, but still very cute!
