Merry Little Christmas Kit

One of the fabulous kits in the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue is the Merry Little Christmas kit ....

These cards are quick and easy to make as all of the cutting out is done for you. The kit can be found on page 27 of the Holiday Catalogue, item #132158 - $11.95 (Cdn) for just the kit, or bundle it with the co-ordinating stamp (items #1332856/1332857) for only $24.95 for wood mount, or $21.95 for clear mount. You get all the supplies to make 8 cards - cardstock cards, envelopes, envelope liners, die cut DSP and cardstock elements, buttons, and Baker's Twine.  The only thing I added to those supplies is a layer of Silver Foil Paper behind the striped DSP and some Coastal Cabana Ruffled Ribbon.  It adds bling, and I love bling!  So grab one of these kits, some adhesives and have a chocolate party with some friends. You will go home rested, relaxed and with 8 (or more) Christmas cards all finished, including the envelopes and liners.  HERE is a link to my online store where you can purchase your own Merry Little Christmas Simply Created Card Kits.

  Stamp:  Merry Little Christmas
Ink:  Coastal Cabana, Real Red, Real Red marker
Paper:  Coastal Cabana, Whisper White, Silver Foil
Other:  Baker's Twine (included), Button (included), Coastal Cabana Ruffled Ribbon

The envelope with the customized included liner is great too, so professional!  Sorry I did not take a picture of it.  But you can see the liners in this picture of the entire kit ....

Colour Me Christmas Tree Card

The stamp set Colour Me Christmas was paired with the new Expressions Thinlits Die - Merry - to create this card for you.

Then I popped one of my favourite embellishments on top of the tree - Frosted Finishes.  Oh I will be so very sad to see these awesome blingy embellishments leave us.  I have even seen them made into jewelry - earrings and necklaces.  So versatile.
The Expressions Thinlits Die "Merry" also comes with the words "Thankful" and "Love" and are only available until the Holiday Catalogue retires on January 2, 2014.  They are a bit tricky to use, but if you put some wax paper between the die and your cardstock when you cut it out, the words will just pop out in your hand. And, the best thing?  Well the wax paper stays in so there is no need to use another piece!!!!

Stamps:  Colour Me Christmas, Merry Little Christmas (I coloured just the word "Christmas" with a Pacific Point marker)
Ink / Markers:  STazOn, Pacific Point, Smoky Slate, Pool Party
Paper:  Whisper White, Smoky Slate, Silver Glimmer, Pacific Point, Winter Frost DSP Stack
Other:  Expressions Thinlits Die, Frosted Finishes Embellishment, Modern Label Punch

Time now to mail my cards.  I am doing something a bit different this year.  I went through my boxes (yes multiple boxes) of saved cards from previous classes and swaps, and I am using all the Christmas cards I have on hand from previous years!  How smart is that?  How sad is that, that I actually have over 125 of them!!!!  LOL

Snowflake Circle Flip Card

The recently released Circle and Label Thinlits Card Dies by Stampin' Up! are a lot of fun to use, and so very simple too!

This card was inspired by Patti Bennett.  She made her card a single flippy card, but I wanted to extend the card and create a fold over part for the inside.  This is done by cutting your cardstock 4-1/4 x 11" then scoring it at 7".  You then slip one end of the cardstock under the die and leave the other end over top of the die.  Then when you run it through your Big Shot, do not go all the way, just roll it over the part where it cuts the round flip piece and back the die and cardstock back out of the Big Shot.  HERE is a link to a youtube video on how to do the extension. I really like the Frosted Flourishes embellishments, they are so blingy.  Sad to think that they will be gone at the end of  December!

  Stamps:  Festive Flurry, Christmas Messages
  Ink:  Coastal Cabana
Paper:  Coastal Cabana, Whisper White, Silver Glimmer, Winter Frost DSP Stack
Other:  Circle Thinlits Card Die, Festive Flurry Dies, 1-1/2" Circle Punch, Sponge, Frosted Finishes Embellishments, Basic Rhinestones, 7/8" Scallop Circle Punch

These flip cards are really fun to do, have you tried one yet?  To order your very own set, CLICK HERE to go to my online store.

Joyful Christmas Vellum Poinsettia Cards

More Christmas cards to share with you today using Joyful Christmas stamp set by Stampin' Up!

I made two of these cards as well.  I just love the poinsettia stamp on vellum with white embossing powder.  So elegant and goes with any colour scheme.  I stamped the flower twice for each card on Vellum cardstock using VersaMark ink and White Embossing Powder.  Then I cut out the full flower for one layer, and just  the center of the flower for the top layer.
The gold one is made with Champagne Glimmer Paper and Baked Brown Sugar cardstock and ink. Don't you think the Baked Brown Sugar colour turns a deep, rich gold colour when paired with the glimmer paper?  Then I made a Clay Flower and embossed it with Gold Embossing Powder.  You have to put two layers of embossing powder on the flower to give it a nice smooth, soft finish.
Then I used the Red Glimmer Paper and Real Red cardstock and ink to create the second one.  I coloured some Basic Rhinestones with a red sharpie marker for the center of the flower.

Stamps:  Joyful Christmas, More Merry Messages
Ink:  VersaMark, Baked Brown Sugar, Real Red
Paper:  Whisper White, Baked Brown Sugar, Real Red, Vellum
Other:  Simply Pressed Clay, Buttons and Blossoms Simply Pressed Clay Molds, Basic Rhinestones, Gold Embossing Powder, White Embossing Powder, red sharpie marker

Hope you are almost finished your Christmas cards, but if not I will be back again next time with another great Christmas card for you.

Lovely As A Tree - Red and Silver Christmas Cards

I used the epic stamp set Lovely As A Tree by Stampin' Up! to create these two great cards . . . . .

This first card uses Real Red and Always Artichoke to create a Christmas wish, and some Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding finishes it off.
The second card uses Silver Glimmer Paper and Smoky Slate ink to create the same card in a different colour scheme.  I did something a bit different with the "bow".  Here is an up close view for you ....

To create this bow you punch one Small Oval Punch from Silver Glimmer Paper (the old one that is now retired, but you could make it with the Large Oval punch as well) and a scrap of Silver Glimmer Paper that measures 3/8 x 1".  Cut the oval in half and attach it together by turning it around and overlapping the two rounded ends slightly.  Then wrap the scrap around the center to hide it all.  Voila a perfect bow!
These cards were inspired by Lee Conrey who is Queen of the CAS card.  Thanks, Lee!

Stamps:  Lovely As A Tree, Greetings of the Season
Ink:  Smoky Slate, Coastal Cabana, Sahara Sand, Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke
Paper:  Whisper White, Silver Glimmer, Smoky Slate, Season Of Style DSP Stack, Winter Frost DSP Stack
Other:  Label Bracket Punch, Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details, Pretty Print EF, Small Oval punch, Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding

Thanks for taking the time out of your busy day to visit my blog, and / or read my blog post that was delivered to your email.  I appreciate it!

Joyful Christmas Multi Layered Poinsettia card

I love the new stamp set from Stampin' Up! called Joyful Christmas!!!

This classically designed flower makes any card it is used on a wonderful one.  I am going to be posting a few Christmas cards for you over the next few blog posts.  I found this one on the internet somewhere and did not write down who originated it.  Please email me if this one is yours, or you know who it belongs to.
I stamped this flower three times on Real Red cardstock with VersaMark ink and then used Cherry Cobbler Embossing Powder on it.  It is cut out in 3 different ways, and layered with dimensionals.  Then you take a blender pen and some Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink and "wash" the inside of the petals to give them some depth.
The leaves are stamped in VersaMark and Gold Embossing Powder on Pear Pizzazz cardstock.  Then they are "washed" with Old Olive ink and a Blender Pen.  The early espresso blotches on the Crumb Cake cardstock are done using a stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.

  Stamps:  Joyful Christmas, Gorgeous Grunge
Ink:  Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, VersaMark
Paper:  Whisper White, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz, Real Red, Champagne Glimmer Paper, Season Of Style DSP
Other:  Stylish Stripes EF, Gold EP, Cherry Cobbler EP, Blender Pen, Owl Punch (for glimmer dots in the middle of the flower)

It won't be long now until the Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder is gone.  It is in the Holiday Catalogue and only available until January 2, 2014. Maybe it will be held over ??????

Pop 'n Cuts Flower Shop Card

Every month I hold a "Cool Moves" class.  These cards have something about them that folds or moves differently than a basic card and are a bit more intense to put together.

I used the Envelope Liners Framelits by Stampin' Up! to make a matching envelope.

This is the inside of the card.  Don't you just LOVE the bling?

Modern Medley Designer Series Paper is used for this card, and it is the best DSP in the entire Stampin' Up! catalogue!  Every pattern is like eating mashed potatoes and gravy - comfort food!
The Pop 'n Cuts die is used for the DSP outside piece (just the base of the die, not an insert), then the black piece on the inside is done using the Pop 'n Cuts base with the Label insert.  The flowers are from the stamp set Flower Garden which you can purchase in a bundle with the matching Pansy Punch for a 15% discount!  I LOVE discounts, don't you?  The sentiment on the inside is from Really Good Greetings and it is cut out using the Deco Label Framelits which match the Label insert for the Pop 'n Cuts perfectly.  A bit of Silver Glimmer Paper (on the front and inside) finishes it all off.  Then for the final touch, I added some XL Rhinestones in the middle of the flowers on the front.

Stamps:  Flower Shop, Really Good Greetings
  Ink:  StazOn
Paper:  Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Modern Medley DSP, Silver Glimmer Paper
Other:  Pop 'n Cuts Card Base die and Label insert, Deco Labels Framelits,  Bird Punch, Pansy Punch, XL Rhinestones

The Basic Black frame on the front of the card is cut by putting the 3rd largest Deco Label Die on a piece of Basic Black cardstock, then placing the 2nd largest  Deco Label die inside that and cutting them both at the same time with the Big Shot.  Then you use just the frame part, and the inside part is used on another project.

Hope you give these cards a try, they are spectacular.

Remembrance Day - Lest We Forget.

This post is dedicated to all the men and women serving in our Military.  And one in particular - MCpl Gord Hoffman ...

I have known Gordy since he was about 6 yrs old.  It swells my heart with pride to know he is making the world a bit safer for all of us.  It also scares my heart to know where he is and what he is doing.  (Sorry can't share that with you, but he is "over there").

Thank you, Gordy, and everyone else.  Yes you do deserve a better pension plan!

Christmas Stamp-A-Stack card #1

I start my Christmas Card Classes in September each year.  This is a card from my first class of this year.

This first picture shows the card made using Night of Navy cardstock and White Embossing Powder.

The second picture is a closer view of the trees - Lovely As A Tree is my very favouritest (?is that a word??LOL) stamp set.

In this picture, you can see the bling on the trees.  This is done by using a 2 Way Glue Pen, put glue where you would like the glitter.  Then just pour the glitter over the still wet glue.  Oh my so blingy!

Then I tried it with Silver Glimmer Paper behind the tree image, and used Pewter Embossing Powder instead of the white.  I think the Silver Embossing Powder would be better, but it is such a striking card.
I know I cased this from somewhere, but it was so long ago I forget where or from who. Please email me if you are the originator of this card so I can give you proper credit.

Stamps:  Lovely As A Tree, More Merry Messages
  Ink:  VersaMark
Paper:  Night of Navy, Basic White, Silver Glimmer Paper
Other:  White or Pewter Embossing Powder

Thanks for visiting today, I will be sharing the other 2 cards from my September Christmas Card Class over the next 2 posts.
