Sail Away Masculine Birthday Card

My customers always say it is hard to come up with a masculine birthday card.  My answer to them?  All you need is the perfect stamp.  I used the now retired "Sail Away" stamp and the Direct to Paper technique for this one.

To do the Direct To Paper Technique, all you do is hold your open ink pad upside down and put it on the paper.  Gently move the pad around while maintaining gentle contact to the paper. The new Stampin' Up! ink pads make a very different pattern on the cardstock than the old ones did.  I used Bashful Blue on the top and Pool Party on the bottom. Try it yourself and see what you can come up with.

Some of you may know we are sailers at heart.  Here is a picture of our boat "Maraya" ...
Last summer we actually got to use the sails a few days while out on our annual sailing vacation.  I sure wish summer would hurry up so we can have more adventures on Maraya.  This summer our oldest Grandson, James will be old enough to come out with us!  Whoo hoooo.

Sail Away With Me Anniversary Card

Today's card is a masculine Happy Anniversary card.  I purchased the stamp Sail Away when it was in the Summer Mini catalogue.  I was happy when Stampin' Up! continued the stamp set Open Sea, but truly disappointed when Sail Away was retired.  This was a super masculine stamp and it was a single stamp.  Here is my card for you ....
You can't tell in this picture, but I used the new Pewter Embossing Powder (Holiday Mini Catalogue Page 2, Item #124114, $5.95) on the sailboat image and I love how it turned out.  A bit of bling and still manages to be masculine!!
Stamps:  Sail Away, A Word For You
Ink:  VersaMark
Markers:  Cherry Cobbler, Night Of Navy
Cardstock:  Very Vanilla, Night Of Navy, Cherry Cobbler
Other:  Houndstooth Embossing Folder, Pewter Embossing Powder, Ticket Corner Punch (retired)
Happy Anniversary to everyone who had and Anniversary in September!

Sail Away Masculine Card

A couple of years ago a very dear friend, and talented stamper, sent me a card that I fell in love with.  It was very simple, but very eyecatching.  I have held onto that card (physically as well as in my minds eye) until I found a stamp that I could recreate the card with.  Here is the card I cased ....

I was so excited when I first saw this stamp, called "Sail Away" in the new Stampin' Up! Summer Mini catalogue.  I knew it would be perfect to recreate Mi Ran's card.  This card takes about 5 minutes to make, and that includes cutting all the paper and doing the insides and a coordinating envelope!  The lines I drew by hand with my black Stampin' Write Marker.  The sentiment is from Starring You a set I aquired during Sale-A-Bration in 2010.  It fits the bill perfectly.  The card is very flat and very light, so it is easy and inexpensive to mail. I popped up the sentiment, but you don't have to and it would still look great.
Thank you Mi Ran for your inspiration.  I absolutely love this card.  It is so verstile, you could make it in any colour your want.  I think it would be awesome in Not Quite Navy, or Pacific  Point, or even Real Red!
Stamps:  Sail Away, Starring You
Ink:  Basic Black
Cardstock: Basic Black, Whisper White
Other:  1-3/4" Circle Punch, Circles #2 Die (1-1/2" circle), Black Stampin' Write marker.
Happy Stampin' and I hope wherever you are that you are safe and sound from the horrible storms and flooding happening all over the world!
