Quick and Easy Watercolored Background Technique Using Stamps, Ink, and Paper!

 Hi Friends!

Creating beautiful and unique backgrounds for your paper crafts doesn't have to be a time-consuming or complicated process.

I received a card in a swap by Shauna Mikuliak and fell in love with it's simplicity.

In this blog post, we'll explore a quick and easy watercolour background technique using stamps, ink, and paper. This technique will allow you to achieve stunning results with minimal effort, making it perfect for cards for any occasion.

Materials Needed:

  • Basic White cardstock 3-5/8 x 3-7/8, plus 5-1/4 x 4 for inside
  • Thick Basic White card base 8-1/2 x 5-1/2
  • Pebbled Path cardstock 3-3/4 x 4
  • Acrylic Block the size you want the background to be - I used "H"
  • Water spritzer
  • Stamp set - I used Nature's Prints
  • Ink - I used Pebbled Path plus the Stampin' Write Marker to Flick Dots onto the card
  • Embellishments  - I used Adhesive-Backed Sparkle Gems
  • Paper towels and heat gun

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  • Ink up your Acrylic Block by applying the ink pad directly to the block
  • Use the Stampin' Spritzer to add water to the ink, you want enough that the ink pools
  • Turn the block over and apply it to your Basic White cardstock
  • Lightly push it down, then let it sit and watch the magic happen
  • Remove the block and put this piece to the side to dry
  • Meanwhile stamp an envelope and the 5-1/4 x 4 piece of Basic White for the inside
  • Adhere the inside piece to the inside of the card
  • Use a heat gun to make sure the water coloured piece is dry, making sure to dry the front and the back
  • Stamp your image on top of the water coloured image
  • Stamp the sentiment
  • Use the Stampin' Write Marker to flick colour onto the front
  • Adhere the art piece to the Pebbled Path cardstock
  • Then adhere these layers to the front of the card
  • Add embellishments as shown

With just a few simple supplies and easy-to-follow steps, you can create stunning watercolor backgrounds for your paper crafts. This quick and easy technique using stamps, ink, and paper allows you to add a beautiful artistic touch to your handmade cards, scrapbook pages, art journals, and more.

Experiment with different colours, stamp designs, and arrangements to personalize your projects and unleash your creativity. Have fun and enjoy the process of creating unique watercolour backgrounds!
