Skating Edwin and Tilda - Magnolia card

UPDATE:
Welcome to February's Christmas All Year Long Blog Hop by Magnolia-licioius! If you arrived here from Deb's blog, you are on the right track. If not HERE is the start of the hop.
This is my original post for my entry.........

Another Magnolia card for you today. This card was a challenge to do. I coloured the images, then set to work to create the card. But the colours and papers I had planned to use just were not working. So I just walked away from it overnight and thought about reconstruction. This morning I hit my craft room with a completely different image in my head. New colours and a new layout! Ah Ha!!

Here is the result:

I used the retired Stampin' Up! designer paper - Soft Sky. I love this colour and have been "hoarding" it since it retired. It was perfect for the soft look I was going for. When I coloured Edwin and Tilda I did an experiment. I am still trying to decide between colouring light to dark or dark to light. So Edwin's pants are coloured light to dark, and Tilda's coat is coloured dark to light. I can't see any difference at all in the technique. Here is an up close picture of the two skaters:

I used the Pond/Park background stamp in behind them, cut with the coluzzle. Then I cut the biggest oval on the coluzzle out of Whisper White and distressed it and put it behind the pond oval. I painted some Crystal Effects on the pond part of the background stamp with a paint brush, then added some Dazzling Diamonds glitter while it was wet. The snowflakes are from the Stampin' Up! Jumbo Snowflake punch with some snowflake brads and a tree in the middle. I added 1/4" circles punched and some Baby Blue Stickles in the middle of each snowflake brad to jazz them up a bit. I ran a strip of Whisper White Organza ribbon around the middle. The sentiment is on a piece of glimmery dark blue paper (source unknown) punched with the Designer Label punch with Whisper White punched with the Large Oval punch on top. The inside is very plain compared to most of the Magnolia cards out there, but I don't like my insides too decorated (yet!! haha). Here's the inside:

Here is a list of the Copic colours I used:
Edwin and Tilda:
Blues: B91, B95, B97, and B24 on the mittens only
Yellows: Y11, Y13, Y15
Fur parts: C1, C3, B97 for some blue highlights
Hair: Y11, Y21, E97, E99
Skin: E00, E000, E0000
Cheeks: R20, R21, R30
Park/Pond:
Snow: C1, C3, B91
Trees: YG63, YG67
Lightstand: C1, C3, B97 Light: Y17
Bench Frame: c1, c3
Bench Slats: E11, E33, E35, E37
Path: W3, E35, E37
I am very limited in the range of colours I have, I would liked to have had a darker gray and darker brown, but not this time.
Thanks so much for looking, I am off now to clean up my craft room and start the next project.
Oops I got the wrong next step in the blog hop, sorry, HERE is the correct link to the next blog in the hop, Jenn Koss!!
