Embedded Leaf Technique - a Cased Card Share

Hi Friends!

When I saw this card on Pinterest by Linda Parker, I knew I had to create it. I love clean and simple cards that are deceptively simple.  I think it is the use of white space on this card that I love so much.

Some days I love clean and simple, and other days I do fussy cards.  It depends on the mood I am in, and what I am creating for.  What about you?  Clean and Simple (CAS) or fussy and beautiful?

When I am at a loss for what I am creating next, I head to pinterest. I don't spend a lot of time on there, but I type in a stamp set and scroll through the results until I see something that catches my eye.  Then I find a card I am inspired by, or I want to case, or a layout I am inspired to create my own card with.

This card looks a lot more difficult than it actually is to create.  The new Stamparatus by Stampin' Up! sure helps a lot too.  I find stamping on window sheets difficult at times.  The stamp comes down towards the sheet with the ink on it, then your hand moves a bit and the stamp slides all over.  The ink follows the stamp and you have a big smudgey mess.  With the Stamparatus it's always straight down and straight up.  And if you mess up and don't ink the stamp enough, you can just do it again and it stamps on exactly the same spot!

First use the Embossing Buddy to remove all traces of static from the window sheet.  Then the leaf from Colourful Seasons is stamped in VersaMark on the window sheet, then use Gold Embossing Powder and a heat gun to finish it.  The Whisper White cardstock underneath is coloured with Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Cajun Craze using daubers.

Cut the leaf image out of Whisper White card piece using the Seasonal Layers Dies.  Stamp your sentiment in VersaMark ink and use Gold Embossing Powder on it too.  Then put the leaf stamped on the window sheet underneath, and finish off with the coloured white piece and you can move that around until you get the desired effect showing through.  Some Gold 1/8" ribbon is wrapped around the white layer and then everything is attached to a Thick Whisper White card base.  Then tie another small piece of the same ribbon around to make a knot.

Thick Whisper White 8-1/2 x 5-1/2
Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4, 3 x 3
Window Sheet 3 x 3

Not too many supplies to make this card, but if you are interested in purchasing the Colourful Seasons bundle it is only available in a bundle until May 31st.  Then the two products will still be available to order individually, but you won't get the 10% bundle discount any more.
