I have not posted this year yet. I made the decision to stop posting for a while and see how it goes. I found myself focusing more on my blog and posting than my card making, classes, family and friends.
I will rethink it in a few months.

My Christmas Card

I shared a lot of Christmas cards this year, but one I did not share was the one I made for us to personally send out. Here it is ....

I used Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler and Brushed Gold cardstock. First I stamped the reindeer from Winter Post in VersaMark and used Gold Embossing Powder. Then the trees from Lovely As A Tree (my very first Stampin' Up! stamp set way, way, way back) wer stamped in Soft Suede over top. I wiped off the residual ink from the embossed image with a bit of paper towel. Then I stamped Merry Christmas from Many Merry Messages in Cherry Cobbler. The Brushed Gold cardstock was embossed with Petal A Plenty Embossing Folder. Then I had to add some bling, of course. So I spritzed the Top Note cut layer with Champagne Mist Shimmer Spritz.

Christmas Lane Scrapbooking

For the first time this year I bought the Christmas Lane Simply Scrappin' Kit and the Cherry Trim 6x6 Album from the Holiday Mini catalogue. Scrapbooking is not my thing, but I was determined to do an album this year. For the past 2 days I have been scrapbooking Christmas 2011! No kidding, it is not even really over yet, and I have my album done for this year. I was inspired by Robbin Merriman's album in a Demo only site. I used her ideas and expanded on them for my album. As usual, I have put dots over our Grandson's faces as per my agreement with my Son and Daughter-In-Law.

Here is the outside of the binder (the front and the spine) ...

Wow, 20 pages in 1.5 days. I think that without the planning parts, this album would take about 6 hours to put together. I love how the stickers coordinate with the designer papers and the cardstock. The hardest part was deciding what stickers went where, then what pictures to use.

Mini Note Pad Clips

This was another item I made for my Craft Fair in December .....

I made a whole bunch of these using retired designer series paper and some retired ribbon. I am so glad I hang onto retired stuff for projects like these. I admit, I am a "bit" of a hoarder! These were inspired by the ones Chat W made in THIS POST. I spent 4 days over the holiday break cleaning and purging my craft room. Now I am back together again and ready to start creating. Stay tuned for some cards starting tomorrow!

Sneak Peek - Occasions Mini - Framelits, Embossing Folder, Punch

I have another sneak peek of new products coming in the Occasions Mini Catalogue on January 4th. There are 3 new things on this card.

#1 - Heart Framelits Dies
#2 - Adorning Accents Embossing Folders
#3 - Blossom Punch
The technique I used is called "Suspenion Card". The hearts in the middle are suspended on some Baker's Twine. All the hearts are cut out with the new dies, and the pink one in the middle is embossed with the new folder. I punched each end of the sentiment piece with the new Blossom punch to pretty it up a bit. This will be my Jauary Technique Class.

Snowman Hot Chocolate Treat Holder

I got the idea for this little gem from my friend Barb T in Comox, BC. I cased it completely because it is just so darned cute. You pull up on the ribbon and it slides out a package of hot chocolate ....

The bottom layer of the snowman is made from a Sweet Treat Cup and filled with mini marshmallows.
Here are the dimensions for it.....

   Scored at 3-3/4 and 7-1/2

Standing Calendars - Final Day

Here are the last 3 Standing Calendars I made for the Craft Fair ....

A cute owl from the Owl Builder Punch on the top one.
For the middle one I used the Magnetic Movers and Shapers die from the Holiday Windows set. Then I embossed the bird with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.
The last one has more cute birds from the Bird Builder Punch.

The top one has a flower made from the 5 Petal Punch, and it has lots of Champagne Mist Shimmer Spritz on it. I used the Little Leaves Die to make the leaves behind the flower.
The bottom one has two more birds on it.

I made quite a few of these little gems, so thought I would share them all with you. Here are two more ....

More retired DSP but oh so bright and colourful. The top one has a satin bow on the top of it and a couple more birds. The bottom one I used the Floral Fusion Die and cut out some flowers in matching cardstock, the layers are up on Dimensionals to give them a bit of interest. I love how the Flamingo and Blue Bird worked out, they were printed on the DSP.

Both of them use retired designer series paper. The top one has one of the red flowers cut out, shaped and popped up on Dimensionals and some Basic Pearls added for bling. The pink one has two birds punched out using the Bird Builder Punch. The bird's eyes are Basic Rhinestones.

Standing Calendars

I also made a few of these great Standing Calendars. I ordered the calendar part online and created the background for it. I got this idea from a fellow demo, Petty Wong, in Victoria.

These are very easy to make.

Cardstock 10-1/2 x 5-1/2

Score it at 4-1/4x 5-1/4 and 6-1/4

Designer Series Paper 5-1/4 x 4

Cardstock or Coordinating DSP 5-1/4 x 2

Cardstock to frame calendar

Ribbon 6"

Embellish and decorate as desired

Fold the cardstock on score lines. Punch a slot (I used the retired slot punch) at the top of both sides to tie the ribbon through. Assemble and decorate as desired. Run ribbon through slots and tie in a knot or a bow.

For this one I took a small piece of ribbon and wrapped it around the top through the slot and taped it down at the back. Then I tied a bow and put it on top of the ribbon for something a bit different. I will show you some more over the next few days so you can see the 3 different ribbon treatments I did.

Here are some pictures of one of the calendars from the side so you can see how to fold it.

These fold up and you can fit them right into a regular card size envelope. Depending on how you finish them, they will also mail for the cost of a single stamp.

Snowman Punchie Christmas Treats

Another item I made for the Craft Fair was these super cute Santa Punchie 1x8 Treat Bags with Christmas Peanut M&Ms in them.

I don't know who originated them, I got the Santa Punchie dude from my friend Mi Ran in Victoria this summer. I visited her and we had an entire day of stampin' fun! These went quite quickly in the Craft Fair. I will be restarting my Punchie Classes in January and this is one we will be doing. Never to early to get ready for next Christmas!

Photo Frame Note Pad - More

Well the craft fair is over, thank you to all who joined us! It was a great weekend. I have some more of the Photo Frame Note Pads to share with you today ....

Some I added bling, some butterflies, some birds. They were all different in some way. Our Grandson, James came by and I helped him pick out one for his pre-school teacher. He chose the pink one from the last post. The designer paper behind the frame is 4" x 6".

Here is a closer look at how it stands. Remember this is one of those plastic photo frames that are very cheap ....

More retired DSP (I think I have a "bit" to use up from past catalogues, LOL). I added a cute pink and silver owl to this one to match the bling on the paper. Then added some white branches for him to sit on. The flower in the background kind of looks like a moon, don't you think?
More tomorrow, and when I get a chance I will give you some dimensions, supplies and a recipe.

Photo Frame Note Pads

Whoo hooo I am ready for the craft fair on Saturday and Sunday. Everything is made, and packaged, and priced, and packed! I am feeling good, one day ahead of schedule. Now I will share with you some of the items I made for the fair.
The first one is cased from a great note pad idea I got from my friend Elsie! (Hi Elsie!!!) Last year she kindly gave me one of these and I have it sitting beside by computer. It's great when you have to jot something down real quick, there it is just waiting for you!

They are made using the plastic picture frames you can buy almost anywhere very cheap. You slip a piece of designer paper where the picture should be, turn the frame around so the standy up part is on the top, put the note pad (sticky notes) on the bottom and add some embellishments! Tomorrow I will share with you what they look like from a different angle. Right now I am heading to bed (this is set to post early in the morning tomorrow).
The designer paper is retired and I used the Five Petal Flower punch and Little Leaves Die to create the floral embellie.

Hi, I am back, finally. I have not created a card or project in a few days now, so I have not posted. I want this blog to be stamping related, so I won't be posting day after day of just information. My commitment to you! You may see stretches of time without a post, but I hope you will understand.
Today's card is a sympathy card. Not the typical type of card you want to be making at this time of the year, but sometimes they are necessary .....

Beau Chateau Birthday Wishes

I felt like making a vintage type card today to share with you. I pulled out my Beau Chateau Designer Series Paper (oh my it is awesome!!!). It matches the Elements Of Style stamp set so well. . . .

I love gathering the Polka Dot Ribbon and turning it into a flowerette. A Basic Pearl added to the center makes it match the vintage feel of the rest of the card. To do the sentiment piece, I used Naturals White cardstock, something I don't use nearly enough. I used a dauber to put some Pink Pirouette colour onto the flowers in the DSP.

I have a fun card for you today. I find it very difficult to create boy cards, and for that age about 8 or 9 to 15 or so is really difficult. I hope I hit it with this one ....

I participated in my own Designer Series Paper Share back in July when the new catalogue came out. Now I have a whole bunch of DSP to choose from, for any occasion. I reached for Big Top Birthday DSP for this card because I loved the bright colours.

I bought the new Designer Frames Embossing Folders but have not used them much yet. So out it came for this one. I like Calypso Coral and it goes so well with Early Espresso!

Happy Snowman Christmas card

I could not sleep last night so decided I needed to get this card out of my head! I headed to the craft room in the dark of the early morning and created this CAS (clean and simple) and quick card ....

You know, sometimes they are not the same in paper as they are in our heads! Oh well, now its done and I can sleep tonight....... I used 2 retired sets for this one. I think this will be my last Christmas card of the season .... maybe!

Last year I received one of these calendars from a fellow Vancouver Island Demonstrator, Petty Wong. It has taken me this long to re-create it. Why so long? Pink Elebration - Baby Girl Card

I'm still in a Baby kick and have a pink one to share with you today. I love how Stampin' Up! now offers single stamps. They call it A La Carte. Elebration is one of those stamps, and I used it to create this card ....

The corner is punched with the Decorative Label Punch. HERE is a tutorial Patty Bennett posted on her blog on how to do it. You all know I love to use my punches "outside the box" and this is one of those ideas. We saw it at Convention in Salt Lake City in July. The DSP I used is retired "Sending Love Specialty DSP" but it just went so well with my colour scheme. I may have hoarded a bit of this paper! LOL

Bashful Blue Baby Hippo Card

I just finished making our new Grandson, Cameron's baby announcement cards (that was a marathon like making Christmas cards!). Inspiration was taken from THIS post of Chat W back in February 2011. Chat created a great baby card, and I cased and changed it a bit and created this card ...

Well it has a lot of layers and I popped up a bunch of them so, that together with the bow made it unfriendly for putting in the mail. So I reconfigured it for Cameron and came up with this one ....

Only the hippo is popped and the bow is made from some retired Bashful Blue 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon. Now I know why I am such a hoarder! I printed the inside out on my computer matching the colours from the outside ...

Here is the basketful ....

I love the set Pun Fun and plan on keeping it for a long, long time. I also used some retired Bashful Blue patterns DSP. Such fun.

Petal Cone Santa Ornament

I ran across the most awesome Santa made out of the Petal Cone Die on Kay Sha's blog. Her Santa was inspired by Mary at Mary's Craft Room . Oh what talented ladies, thanks for sharing! I made one, and will make more they are so easy and cute and awesome ...

Mary has some directions, and Kay has other ones that will help you recreate this out of the Petal Cone die and some Stampin' Up! punches. For the holly I used the Bird Builder Punch and punched 2 stem and leaves out of Garden Green then put the holly berries on them. I also spritzed the entire thing with Champagne Mist Shimmer Spritz when I was done, and a Brights Designer Button finished it off.

Modern Label Punch Repunched Tutorial

Yesterday I shared this card with you .....

Up on the top right hand corner I have a sentiment punched with the Modern Label punch, but it is much smaller than the original punched shape. I call it "Repunching". Today I have a tutorial for you on how to do this with your punch ....

Here are the supplies you will need ... the Modern Label Punch, Ink, Sentiment Stamp, Cardstock

Stamp your image ....

Punch it out with the Modern Label Punch ...

Take a scrap of cardstock (I am using the piece I just punched the sentiment out from) and put a bit of adhesive tape on the end. This will make an "extender" to use ...

Stick the corner of your sentiment to the adhesive tape ...

Put it back into the punch from the outside of the punch as shown and punch your image ...

Turn the piece around and adhere the end you just repunched to the extender ...

Put it back into the punch and repunch again ...

There you go, a repunched sentiment that has the same shape as the original one, just shorter ...

Here is a comparison of the original size, and the repunched size ...

I am all about using the punches for much more than they were originally intended. I hate having tools in my craft room that have just one purpose. You can make this any length you want depending on how long your sentiment is. I chose to layer it onto the Large Oval punch.

Thoughts And Prayers Snowy Day Card

I'm back after a weekend of preparations! Oh my I cut a LOT of cardstock this weekend. But I did managae to have some card crafting time as well. I have a snowy card for you today ....

We had the first snow of the season this weekend, not where we live, but up in the passes. So I decided to create a snowy scene card for you. I used Irridescent Ice Embossing Powder and the background stamp Wonderfully Worn to create the falling snow. Then I took the VersaMark pad and did the direct to paper technique (putting the stamp pad directly on the paper to cover it in ink) then used Irridescent Ice Embossing Powder to create that snow as well. I ripped the paper to size first, then after the embossing I just distressed the ripped edge a bit with my thumb nail.

It's Been A Prepping Day ...

No card to share with you today. We had a Grandson James day today and I have been preparing for my Christmas Tag classes. James came over this morning and him and I went for a really LONG bike ride. Well it was long for him! He rides a bike called a Strider Bike which has no peddles. He just pushes himself along with his feet and sort of glides on the bike. He is very fast on it and we had a super bike ride. Then Grampa got some more gravel for the driveway and James helped Grampa and Uncle Charlie spread the gravel out. He has a huge ride on Tonka Dump Truck and he kept filling it up and dumping it while the bigger boys were shovelling and using the wheelbarrow. After a very big dinner we took him home, where I bet he was in bed asleep within half an hour. He was tuckered out.
Then Gramma hit the craft room and continued preparing for the classes. Here is a couple of pictures ...

I made 160 eyeballs in the past 2 days! The eyeballs from the Owl Builder Punch, 3 layers, Black, White, Black. Very tiny time consuming pieces.
Then I cut the cardstock, and punched the owls and owl vests (not shown here but there are a lot of them).
I hope to get some quality card making time tomorrow. I will be spending some time at the local Field Of Honour tomorrow remembering all the soldiers that have fought for our country.

Lovely As A Tree Mocha Morning Birthday Card

We had a lovely visit with our two very favourite Grandsons, James and Cameron, today. It was Cameron's first visit to Gramma and Grampa's house! I managed to get some serious cuddle time, oh it was awesome. Not to mention the great play time and visit with James!
Then I headed into my craft room to create a card to post on my blog. I bought some Mocha Morning Specialty DSP a while ago, and have only used a very small piece of it. I am really trying to get over my hoarding tendancies. Here is my card ....

I punched a piece of Early Espresso cardstock with the Decorative Label punch, then spritzed it with Champagne Mist Shimmer Spritz, cut it in half and attached it behind the top and bottom points of the Top Note Die piece. Just for some extra interest. I used two Neutrals Glimmer Brads as well. The Top Note Die piece is also spritzed. Oh the bling is great.

Patterned Birthday Delight

I wanted to create a quick CAS (clean and simple) card to share today.....

Ever since I saw this stamp set - Patterned Party, page 68 Main Catalogue, Item #123065 (W) - $32.95, OR Item #123067 (CM) - $22.95 - I thought it looked like it needed to be suspended. This time I think it looks like goal posts. You could change this up and make it any colour you want (personalize it with his favourite team's colours). I cut 4 strips in Daffodil Delight using the Tasteful Trims Die (page 221 Main Catalogue, Item #120893, $52.95) and using my dauber added some Daffodil Delight ink on the scallops. Before I added the scallops to the card front, I ran the front through my Big Shot using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder (I already had the stamping, posts and circle at the top on the Whisper White).

Real Red Stocking Treat Holder

As promised, I am back with my second Holiday Stocking project. Today's project is a Treat Holder. I created the candy canes out of cardstock using the Stocking Accent Die as I could not find candy canes in the stores yet! I know, bizarre. Maybe I just went to the wrong stores.....

I created a double stocking (adhered together around the outside using my multi purpose liquid glue - Tombo) leaving the top open to slide in the treats. I really used the Champagne Mist Shimmer Spritz on this one, I blinged everything!

White Stocking Gift Card Holder

Oh my I absolutely LOVE the new Holiday Stocking Die and Stocking Accent Die from Stampin' Up! I spent part of today creating two awesome projects with these dies. I will share one today and one tomorrow with you.

I turned today's stocking project into a gift card holder ......

UPDATE: Here is a picture I took after I tweeked the holly part a bit ....

and the Holly part a bit closer ....

It makes a perfect gift card holder and I added a bit of bling with the Red Glimmer Paper and spritzed the red toe and heel pieces. The ornament stamp image is also spritzed with Champagne Mist Shimmer Spritz. I used the Stocking Accent Die to create the holly.

I cut 2 stockings and 2 cuffs, then a third cuff out of the Red Glimmer Paper. I glued the stockings together and left a gap at the top to slip a gift card inside.

Customer Appreciation Month Treats

For the past 3 years I have dedicated the month of November as my Customer Appreciation Month. All month long my stampin' ladies can earn entries into my "Freebie Draw". Each attendee to my classes get specially wrapped Hershey Nuggets. Today I am sharing with you my basket of wrapped treats all ready for my first November class ....

I use retired DSP and wrap each nugget individually. I find it a great way to use up those small bits of paper I seem to accumulate. Most pieces measure 1" x 3". I only put adhesive on the DSP and adhere it together, none of the adhesive touches the nugget wrapper itself. I have more to wrap, but this is a start!

Happy Halloween - Kinder Egg Treat Holder

We just got back from spending Halloween Trick or Treating with our very special Grandsons. Although Cameron is only 3 days old, he had a costume as well. So cute, it was a pumpkin baby sleeper! James dressed up as a Fireman and his Dad and I took him out trick or treating. His bag got full real fast, and when it was too heavy for him to carry, we headed home for some Grampa time. Then I got to have some special Cameron cuddles. Oh I love that new baby smell!
Anyways, before we went over I whipped up a holder for two Kinder Eggs I got for James. He has not had them yet, so I wanted it to be special. Here is what I came up with .....

He was so excited when he saw it because it had his name on it. Although he is just over 3 yrs old, he can read and write his own name and he knows all the alphabet and can count over 20. Sorry, got off track there a bit!

I used the box the eggs came in as a template to create the holder. I am planning on getting a tutorial together over the next few days for you. I took lots of pictures! This would be awesome for Christmas as well. Next time Cameron will be old enough I can do one for him too.

Watercolour Roses Sympathy Card

My task for this card was to use the new Tempting Turquoise Embossing Powder by Stampin' Up! (Main Catalogue, page 201, Item 122950, $5.95). I have not painted any roses lately, so thought it would be a good time to do that ...

I used Pool Party and Tempting Turquoise Classic Reinkers to paint the roses, and added a Brights Glimmer Brad (page 199, Item 121006, $6.50) to the middle of the smaller flowers. I wanted to use this sentiment from Petite Pairs and wanted to punch it out. I did not have a punch that would work the way I wanted it to work, so I used the Postage Stamp Punch and punched it twice, making it a bit smaller. I will do a tutorial on how I did this in the next few days.

It's A Boy!

I do not have a card to share with you today, and I won't be posting tomorrow either. On Thursday, Oct 27 our family grew by one not so small precious bundle. Our second grandson - Cameron Alexander - was brought into the family circle. Cameron bounded into the world weighing 9 lbs 6.8 oz. He is truly a precious bundle of light and joy for our entire family. Gramma and Grampa are over the moon with happiness at the latest light of our lives. I cannot share a picture with you as I have an agreement with our son and daughter-in-law that I will not post pictures of our grandchildren's (don't you LOVE that word) faces on my blog.

I am sure you will understand as I spend time with Cameron and his big brother James.

Holiday Line Up Christmas Shaker Frame

Well here's another shaker card. Have I mentioned lately that I LOVE the new Shaker Frames from Stampin' Up! I sure hope they continue them after the Holiday Mini catalogue retires......

I used some Fine Galaxy Glitter - Red and Champagne - for inside the frame. I also coloured a Basic Pearl with a red sharpie marker and added it inside for Rudolph's nose! I think the glitter is a bit too fine as it sticks to the window sheet over the frame. Oh well, live and learn!

White Butterfly Wedding Card

As a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator I have access to a Demonstrator only website called Stampin' Connection. It is full of awesome samples of projects created by Demonstrators. There are over 75,000 members and over 195,000 samples of projects to make. I was trying to get inspiration for a wedding card and Stampin' Connection is where I go. I found an awesome one by Brenda Reed in July 2011. It inspired me to make this one ...

I looked at Brenda's info page, and she lives about 2 hours from me! In all those 75,000 members, what are the odds?

I spritzed each and every part of the front layer, butterflies, and sentiment of this card. Oh my the bling is front and center. I used Champagne Mist Shimmer Spritz. I did try the Frost White Shimmer Spritze, but I find it does not spray as fine as Champagne Mist does. I used the same bottle and everything.

I used Tilda With Tinsel Garland from the 2009 So Jolly Collection and Poinsettias from the 2008 Christmas Collection. They are stamped on watercolour paper using StazOn Black ink. I spritzed each layer with Champagne Mist Shimmer Spritz (including the poinsettias) and my, oh my, it is so blingy!

Sunflower Shaker Card

Still coming up with ways to use all the sizes of frames from the Stampin' Up! Shaker Frames. These are brand new in the Holiday Mini Catalogue - page 38, Item 124155, $5.95 for a package of 36 frames! Here is my latest card using the frames ....

I had some sugar beads in my stash so that is what I used for inside the shaker frames this time. The first flower I made is the smaller one on the bottom and I did not use the Polka Dot Embossing Folder for the Soft Suede piece inside, but when I made the bigger one, I did and I like it better. These frames are impossible to get apart once you attach them to cardstock or window sheets! Believe me I tried, LOL.

I had a question earlier about how I punched out the Window Sheet. Some of the punches don't work at all on it (eg: the 2-3/8" Scallop Circle). But the Fancy Flower does, the Ornament does, the circles do. I just sandwich the Window Sheet in some regular copy paper before I punch it, and it worked real well.

Christmas Keepsake Box

A while ago anyone who signed up to be a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, and the Demo who signed them up, received a wonderful Christmas Keepsake Box for FREE! I was bummed that I did not get one, but now you can have one too! Stampin' Up! is now selling these totally awesome keepsake boxes. Here is a picture of the box, just click here to go to my Stampin' Up! Website and order it for yourself .

I bought myself one, and made it up last night. Oh I just love it! We have a new grandbaby coming any day now (don't know what it will be as it is a surprise!) and I am planning on using this as a keepsake box for him/her or her/him.

I left out a few things that designate it as a Christmas Keepsake Box hoping it will be a bit more generic.

I also did not use the fabric flower they suggest, I got some more of the Victoria 5/8" Crochet Trim and made another lace trim flower. Also, the paper flower in the middle, I doubled the number of punch outs to increase the fullness of the flower.

I left the sentiment area blank so I can put the baby's name on it, when we know what it is!

Because I did not use the fabric flower, I had an extra button, so I just put it on top of the green one.

I also sprayed it with Champagne Mist Shimmer Spritz instead of using spray adhesive and the Champagne Glitter they send an suggest.

Then I alternated big and medium Basic Pearls around the bottom for added interest.

It took very little time to put this together. The scallop strips are all pre-cut for you.as are most of the other paper pieces. And the end result is spectacular. You get an entire package of Basic Pearls and an entire container of Champagne Fine Galaxy Glitter and you don't use anywhere near all of them on the project, so plenty left for your next project.

I saw this fish made with the Build-A-Blossom stamp set a long time ago. Sorry, but I can't remember who originated it, but if you email me I will give you proper credit of course!

If you look close you can see that it sure shines a lot! I spritzed the Whisper White cardstock for the fish image layer as well as for the sentiment layer, with Frost White Shimmer Spritz. I love using the spritzes, but had forgotten about making the spritz with the Frost White Shimmer Paint until a customer asked me if you could make the spritzes with the other Shimmer Paints as well as the Champagne Mist! Thank you for reminding me.

        Frost White, #116807 Platinum, $7.95 per bottle.

Christmas Gift Card Treat Holder

As promised yesterday, I am back with a Christmas Treat Holder for Christmas. I added a bit extra to this one, it is also a Gift Card Holder. Recently in a demo only swap I received an awesome Gift Card Holder from a very talented Vancouver Island Demonstrator, Susan Easter. I took her idea and some of her embellishments and created my own Gift Card Holder, and added the 1"x8" Cellophane Bag full of M&Ms to go with it. A bit of ribbon on the back and this could hang quite nicely in a Christmas tree or on the mantle ....

Isn't this the cutest gift card holder ever? To make the bow loops on the top, you first punch a small oval (retired now, but wouldn't it be nice if Stampin' Up! brought it back????), then punch a large oval around the hole made by the small oval punch.

Christmas Collage Shaker Card

Another Shaker Card for you today. I used the Christmas Collage Background stamp in Crumb Cake for the background ......

I used 3 different ornament stamps to create the Shaker Ornaments on this card. The top one uses the 1" frame, the middle one uses the 1/2" frame and the bottom one uses the 3/4" frame. This time I filled them with Mica Flakes. Oh these are so pretty and change colour depending on the direction the light is hitting them. And they come in a really BIG container too, so you get lots to work with.
I spritzed the background layer with Champagne Mist Shimmer Spritz but you can't see it in these pictures, and I used the Colour Spritzer to spritz some Early Espresso and Riding Hood Red Classic Ink onto the background as well. Then I used daubers to add some colour around the edge of the background in Crumb Cake and Riding Hood Red

More Christmas cards coming for you. I wanted to devise a way to use the other frames from the Shaker Frames sets. I created a Christmas card HERE that uses the biggest frame, then had all the other ones left over. This one uses the frame that co-ordinates with the 3/4" Circle Punch .....

And a closer view of the Ornament Shaker embellishment ....

A while ago I saw a card that used the Baroque Motif swirl as a Christmas Tree branch to hang an ornament on. I don't remember who the originator is, but if you email me I will give you proper credit. I used the swirl in Always Artichoke to create the branch effect, then created the shaker ornament.
It's very easy, I just stamped the ornament once on Whisper White cardstock in Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink. Then I punched a 34" circle out of the ornament, then punched the ornament with the Ornament Punch. I punched a second ornament on plain Whisper White, and one out of Window Sheet material.
Then adhered all the layers together with some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter in the middle of the shaker part. These frames make it so darned easy to make Shaker Cards, and they co-ordinate with different sizes of Stampin' Up! punches!

Cardstock: Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler

Owl Santa Ghirardelli Christmas Favour - TUTORIAL

As promised, I am back today with a tutorial on how I made THIS cute Christmas goodie holder.
Supplies you will need are:
   Simply Scored Tool
   Silver Glimmer, Real Red, Whisper White and Basic Black cardstock
   Stapler and Staples
   Bone Folder
   Owl Builder and Decorative Label Punches
   Snow Burst Embossing Folder
   Champagne Mist Shimmer Spritz
   Sentiment Stamp - I used Petite Pairs
   Basic Black Classic Ink
   Real Red Stampin' Write Marker

Cut a piece of Real Red cardstock 6-1/4 x 2-1/2"
Score at 5/8, 3-3/8, and 3-3/4' using your Simply Scored Tool (notice the markers I placed so that I can quickly repeat the score lines and not loose my place!)

Cut a piece of Basic Black and Whisper White cardstock to the sizes below. Spritz the Whisper White piece with Champagne Mist Shimmer Spritz:

Using the Owl Builder Punch, Real Red, Basic Black and Silver Shimmer cardstocks, punch out the following owl pieces:

Put the owl together:

Run the Whisper White piece through the Big Shot using the Snow Burst Embossing Folder:

Using the bone folder, fold along all the lines of the Real Red base:

Add the Ghirardelli Chocolate inside the base, fold over the bottom and staple it closed. Make sure you staple towards the bottom so you have a flap left to slip the top under:

To make the sentiment - Stamp on a piece of Whisper White cardstock. Insert into the Decorative Label punch as shown below: (sorry this picture is a bit blurry)

Take the piece out, turn it around, insert it into the punch, line up and punch as shown:

Then edge the sentiment piece using a Real Red Stampin' Write Marker:

Attach the owl and the sentiment to the front of the chocolate holder using dimensionals:

You are now done! Now the hard part, do not eat it before you give it away! Good Luck!!!

Welcome Baby Stocking Card

At convention when we first saw the Stocking Builder Punch, someone said "Oh, wouldn't that make a sweet baby bootie?" Ever since then I have had a card I wanted to make, but I kept forgetting to order the Designer Frames Embossing Folders. Well, now it has all come together and I have this card to share with you ....

And a closer view of the Baby Bootie embellishment, which is spritzed with Champagne Mist Shimmer Spritz of course, but you can't see it in this photo .....

I punched the stocking out a bit shorter than normal, then ran it through the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. Then I took a piece of Whisper White cardstock, separated the layers, turned them inside out, and used the "fluffy" side for the top of the bootie. A bit of White Baker's Twine for the drawstrings finish it off.

French Foliage Thank You card - CASEd

I saw this awesome card on Patty Bennett's bog using the Gently Falling stamp set and Spice Cake DSP and Buttons. I don't have Gently Falling, so I hauled out French Foliage and created a card similar to Patty's. I added a sentiment and used some Log Cabin Smooch Spritz to "sponge" around the edge of the front layer ....

And a closer view of the button embellishment. I think this is super ingenious! What a great way to use this wonderful buttons ....

You just use the 1-1/4" circle punch to punch out designer paper (or you could use cardstock too) and adhere it to the button. I added a Basic Rhinestone cuz I'm all about bling!

Language of Friendship Birthday

This was a quick CAS (clean and simple) card to put together. I already had the Whisper White embossed layer done, so that saved a bit of time too!

I used Pool Party as my colour and added bling (well of course I did, lol). I spritzed most of the layers with Champagne Mist Shimmer Spritz. I think I better mix up another batch as I am almost out!

Owl Santa Ghirardelli Christmas Favour

It is time to start thinking about Craft Fairs and Favours for my Customer Appreciation Month. I found some Ghirardelli Chocolates on a super duper sale at the local Shopper's Drug Mart the other day and knew instantly what I could do with them. Here is what I came up with ....

Aviary Thank You card

I have another Black and White creation for you today, with a great way to use the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch ....

I used the new Pewter Embossing Folder for the bird cages and they look like metal. They are hand cut out and popped up. The sentiment is stamped onto the Whisper White layer. I punched out a strip of Whisper White and a strip of Basic Black using the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch and layered them so they are slighly offset. Great shadow effect.

Tutorial - A Different Way To Use The Decorative Label Punch

Yesterday in THIS POST I shared a card for you where I used the Decorative Label Punch to make decorative ends on the sentiment layer. I am back today with a tutorial on how I did that.
First Supplies:

Poppy Parade ink, Happies Birthday Wishes Happy Birthday stamp, Decorative Label Punch, Marina Mist cardstock - 7/8 x 3-1/2, Whisper White cardstock - 3/4 x 3-1/4. Stamp your sentiment on the Whisper White with the Poppy Parade Classic Ink....

Line up and punch out the left hand side of the cardstock in one of the corners of the Decorative Label punch ....

Do the same thing to the right hand side, but use the opposit corner of the punch .....

This is what it will look like when punched on both sides ....

Adhere the Whisper White cardstock to the Marina Mist cardstock ....

Line up the sentiment in the Decorative Label punch again using the same corners and leaving about 1/8" of the Marina Mist cardstock showing, then punch out the left hand side ....

Next do the same thing to the right hand side, making sure you are using the same corner you used for the Whisper White layer .....

And there you go. Both sides punched with the Decorative Label punch. You can get different looks depending on where on the Decorative Label punch you line up your cardstock.

Another card inspired by the Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalogue. This one I found on page 69, then changed things up and came up with this happy sunny birthday card ....

I used the Petite Pennants Builder Punch and Pennant Parade stamp set to create this awesome card. Then I was bored with the same old, same old for the sentiment and used my Decorative Label Punch to punch off the edges of the sentiment layers.

Floral Fusion Birthday card

I was looking for inspiration and started browsing the Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalogue. Must be called Idea Book for something, right? Well, let me tell you, IT IS! I came across a card on page 10 that used the same stamp set. I liked the layout and the way they used the stamp so thought I would get inspiration from it and create my own card ....

I pulled out my Floral Fusion die and created some Pool Party flowers and added an Itty Bitty Flower punch in Cajun Craze, then spritzed it with Champagne Mist Shimmer Spritz.

Christmas Altered Candy Wrapper Boxes

At convention they showed us how to extend the Candy Wrapper Die so it can hold more goodies. Here is a couple of them that I made up ...

and cloer so you can see a bit of the bling I sprized on this one ...

I wanted this one to look like a Santa belly. I used Clear Embossing Powder on the buttons. The Silver glimmer Paper adds a lot of bling to it ...

I had a dickens of a time making the ends fold on the first one. HERE is a link to an awesome video by Dawn Olchefsk on how to do it, and it works lickety split every time. The second one I just folded and tied a bit of ribbon around.
To make this extended box I used a piece of cardstock 7 x 5 and folded it into a piece 3.5 x 5 and ran it through the Big Shot using the die. I just did not have the folded end right to the very edge of the cutting surface. It's quite easy. Let me know if you need me to do a tutorial on how to do it, but I am sure there are some out there somewhere.
I may be MIA off and on for the next few days as we are travelling again and there is limited internet access.

The Open Sea Birthday Wishes

Another day to play In My Craft Room, how lucky am I? Today's card share is from the set "The Open Sea" which is not in any of the current catalogues. Stampin' Up! calls it a "Write In" which means it was in the last mini, it did not make it into the new main catalogue but is still available! Yippeeeee.

I used the new Pewter Embossing Powder available in the Holiday Mini Catalogue on the anchors. Then I wanted some brads to match, well I did not have any handy, so I used some 5/16" Silver Brads and now I can't wait to "dye" more with the other coloured embossing powders....

I used an Aqua Pen and washed the background behind the ship with Pool Party ink. The ship is stamped on regular white cardstock, I did not use Watercolour paper. I used very little water when washing the ink so it did not harm the cardstock..

Holiday Stockings

I had fun playing with the new Holiday Stocking Die (Holiday Mini Catalogue, page 24, Item #124098 - $40.95) and the Red and Silver Glimmer paper (Holiday Mini Catalogue, page 41, Red Item #121790, Silver Item #124005, $5.95). Here are a couple of Holiday Stockings .....

The white one is embossed with the Northern Frost Embossing Powder and has Red Glimmer Paper for the cuff. I spritzed the toe and heal with Champagne Mist Shimmer Spritz on both stockings.

The red one is embossed with the Snow Burst Embossing Folder and uses the Silver Glimmer Paper for the cuff and I added a couple of the new Mini Jingle Bells ( Holiday Mini Catalogue, page 30, Item #124116 - $3.95).
Stamps: Pines and Pointsettias (Holiday Mini, Page 21, Item #123762 Wood - $24.95, Item #123764 CK - $17.95)
Ink: Real Red
Cardstock: Whisper White, Real Red, Red and Silver Glimmer Paper

Sail Away With Me Anniversary Card

Today's card is a masculine Happy Anniversary card. I purchased the stamp Sail Away when it was in the Summer Mini catalogue. I was happy when Stampin' Up! continued the stamp set Open Sea, but truly disappointed when Sail Away was retired. This was a super masculine stamp and it was a single stamp. Here is my card for you ....

You can't tell in this picture, but I used the new Pewter Embossing Powder (Holiday Mini Catalogue Page 2, Item #124114, $5.95) on the sailboat image and I love how it turned out. A bit of bling and still manages to be masculine!!

Fall Medallion Wreath

On page 6 of the new Stampin' Up! Holiday Mini there is the most awesome wreath made with medallions created out of designer series paper and the new Simply Scored scoring tool. Today I created my own wreath for Fall. I had limited supplies (created this in my trailer while we were in Powell River) so I could not put leaves on it. But I added some images from the Raining Flowers set.....

I used the retired DSP Autumn Vine and created a whole bunch of medallions .....

Then added some medallion "toppers" using more medallions, buttons, brads, etc ....

Also added some champagne mist shimmer spritz on the Cajun Craze stamped images and the "FALL" banner .....

Stocking Builder Punch Hobby Horse

Yesterday I showed you a Reindeer made from the Stocking Builder Punch (Holiday Mini Catalogue Page 34, Item #124095 - $22.95). Today I have a Hobby Horse for you that I also made out of this punch ....

I punched the "head" out of Soft Suede cardstock, then I used my bone folder and curled the cardstock both ways until it started to separate the layers. I pulled apart the cardstock exposing the inside that looks like suede, then I glued the layers back together with the suede sides out. Voila a realistic looking horse! Think I will try one of the reindeer this way too, soon. The eye is punched out of basic black cardstock using the smallest eye part of the Owl Builder Punch and the mane, forelock and bridle are all hand cut.

Stocking Builder Punch Reindeer

I saw these cute reindeer on the internet (several different places) and decided to make one. Here you go .....

So darned cute. Can you imagine this on top of a Christmas Pencil poking out of a stocking, or on top of one of the 1"x8" treat bags Stampin' Up! now sells (page 11 Holiday Mini Catalogue, Item #124134 $3.25 for 50 bags!!)? You can fill those little bags with all sorts of goodies. For the little bit older child you could put some great things in there, not just candy.

Fabulous Florets - Flower Garden card

With the weather being so "fallish" and dark I needed to stamp a summer flower garden. Here is the card I created to brighten your day (and mine too!) ...

Raining Flowers in Calypso Coral

The other night on Global TV they were doing a special report on the Great Bear Rain Forest and the Spirit Bear. We used to live in that area and sailed those waters. I looked at the graphics when they were previewing the special and I saw what I wanted to use in a card - yup inspiration can come from anywhere. The graphic was done in greens and had sort of a wavy split line between the two colours with a third colour peering out in the slit. This is the card I came up with using the split line .....

It took me a bit to figure out how to make the Calypso Coral cardstock the size I want and still have the split in it. I did not want the split to be even, I wanted it smaller at the top and wider at the bottom. So I cut the Whisper White cardstock the size I wanted. Then cut the Calypso Coral cardstock 1/4 inch bigger both ways. Then I hand cut the slit and adhered it to the Whisper White layer and cut off the excess Calypso Coral cardstock. Then I had to spritz it with Champagne Mist Shimmer Spritz, cuz with me it's all about the bling!!! Here is a closer view of the flower and sentiment pieces .....

The flower is from Raining Flowers set and stamped in Calypso Coral and Basic Black and hand cut. I used 2 different flower images. The sentiment is done using the Decorative Label punch.  In THIS POST I showed you a really tiny punch out from the punch (and a link to Patty Bennett's blog where she has a tutorial on how to do it). For this one I did the same thing, just used the long side of the punch instead of the short side. Then I punched out a Wide Oval in Basic Black and hand cut it to layer the white piece.

Fall Trees Birthday

I combined the Splitcoast Stampers Colour Challenge 341 and Sketch Challenge 351 on this card. I also used Connie Babbert's idea to use the Doily Triple Layer Punch for fall trees....

I used the Utah Divas International Colour Challenge from Sept 20/2011 for this card - Peach Parfait, Melon Mambo, Lucky Limeade, Garden Green and Daffodil Delight ......

I used Whisper White as my neutral, and a Texture Plate to add fun to the background. Here is a closer look of the cupcakes ....

A little bit of Dazzling Diamonds Glitter added to the icing makes them pop a bit.

I have a workshop coming up and I wanted to make something special for the hostess. Here is my Pink Piggy Container ....

Tote-ally Tess Black and White

Today's card was inspired by my friend Mi Ran (you met her in this post from convention). Mi Ran is the queen of black and white. A while ago she sent me a card that my stampin' ladies have been falling in love with ever since. So today I created one along the same lines ....

I used the stamp set Tote-ally Tess (page 73, Item 117076 wood, $27.95; Item 118595 CM, $20.95). First I stamped the image in VersaMark onto Basic Black cardstock, then I embossed it in Clear Embossing Powder. A bit of fussy cutting and I had the image I wanted. I did cut off her head and arms (so sorry Tess!) to get what I wanted. Here is a closer view of the image where you can see the clear embossing powder outline on the black cardstock ....

For the sentiment, I used Word Play (page 156, Item #120308 Wood, $51.95; Item #120651 CM, $35.95) and I had to be a bit "bad" and add some real red. I stamped the arrow part of the sentiment again in Real Red and cut it out. It is popped up on dimensionals.

Fall Season of Friendship

I was sitting looking out at our gully and all the leaves on the trees turning golden colours and faling to the ground. It inspired me to create a card with the tree from Season Of Friendship (page 102, Item 111776, $29.95). It is one of those sets I purchased and have not gotten around to using until now! Here is the fall card I came up with .....

When we were at Convention in July, one of the demonstrations was how to make these cute little flowerette medallions with the 1/2" Scallop Dots Ribbon (page 195, Item 124140, $10.95). You just cut a length of ribbon (I used 3") and gather it with a bit of thread (I used crochet cotton) and tie it into a circle. Then I added a Brights Glimmer Brad (page 199, Item 121006, $6.50) to the middle to keep with the fall colour scheme. Here is a closer view for you ...

Last week Patty Bennett shared how to use the Decorative Label punch (page 209, Item 120907, $22.95) to make the cute little punch out I used for the sentiment. HERE is a link to the video tutorial on Patty's blog on how to do this....

Snowman Shaker Card

New in the Stampin' Up! Holiday Mini Catalogue are the Shaker Frames (page 38, Item 124155, $5.95). It can't be any easier now to make awesome shaker cards. Also in the catalogue is the new Mica Flakes (page 21, Item 124115, $4.50 for a LARGE container), Snow Burst Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (page 33, Item 124096, $9.75) and Pewter Stampin' Emboss Powder (page 31, Item 124114, $5.95). I combined all four of these products to create this card for you .....

Here is a closer view of the shaker part. I used the Button Buddies snowman for the image in behind. But I have a "note to self" to use less Mica Flakes in the future! I found out you can't remove the window sheet once it is adhered to the shaker frame!!!

And here is the sentiment where I used the Pewter Embossing Powder. It really makes a crisp clean image.

I used the retired designer series paper "Tea Party" to create this colourful birthday card ....

I needed to create a Workshop-In-A-Box for my Wednesday morning Sunshine Club ladies. The only criteria for me was that I could not use anything that I needed at other classes / workshops because I am loading up everything it takes to make this card, and the card kits, into a box and dropping it off for them to create without me! Should be a lot of fun for them, I hope they don't have too many "issues"!!!

Advent Calendar 2011

On page 36 of the Stampin' Up! Holiday Mini Catalogue there is a super stunning Advent Calendar made using the new Peekaboo Frames Bigz L Die (page 36, Item 124587, $40.95) and the 25 & Counting stamp set (page 37, Item 123792 - $54.95 Wood; 123794 - $40.95 CM). Today I completed my version of the Advent Calendar. I tried to keep to what was done in the catalogue, but had to make a few minor changes because I did not have some items......

I mounted them on a 12x12 piece of Textured Very Vanilla Cardstock, then adhered that to a 12x12 artist canvas. I wrapped some 5/8" Early Espresso Satin Ribbon around the edge (can't see it on these pictures). A lot of work, but really worth it. Now to decide if I want to make some for Christmas Craft Fairs!!!

Fabric Christmas Tag

Still on the Designer Fabric kick! Today I am using the Holly Berry Designer Fabric again to make a Christmas Tag this time ....

This is the same basic flower as yesterday, but I did not sponge Cherry Cobbler ink all over the first layer of the flower, I just sponged around the outside of it.

Floral Fabric Christmas Card

Now that I am a "Fabric Convert" I decided to whip up a couple of projects using the Holly Berry Designer Fabric. The first project is a Christmas card using the Utah Divas Sketch Challenge . . . . .

I used the Fun Flowers Die to create the flower image on this card. The bottom layer of the flower is Holly Berry Designer Fabric, then I used Fabric Adhesive (page 196 main catalogue, Item 122194, $18.50) to fuse it to Very Vanilla cardstock. Then ran it through the Petals A Plenty Embossing Folder. In this picture you can see a bit of the bling I spritzed on the background and the flower layers ....

A bit of Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink was sponged on top to add texture and dimension. Then I layered two more of the flowers from the die, and finished it off with a Regals Designer Button and Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine. The ribbon is Early Espresso Quilted Ribbon from the Holiday Mini Catalogue (page 30, Item 124104 - $10.95). I did the sentiment the same as I did in yesterday's blog post.

Spice Cake Fabric Card

I recently had a play date with a fellow demo, Barb Tripps. It was quite the eventful day. We had so much fun sharing hints, ideas and laughter. And, the big thing of the day, was sharing the recent 6.4 magnitude earthquake off the west coast of Vancouver Island. We were just sitting down for lunch when it hit. Barb was walking, so did not feel it right away. Her hubby sure did, and the pool had a tidal wave in it!
I gave Barb the task to convert me to using Designer Fabric on my cards. I am happy to report she did it!!! Thanks, Barb. Now I have to buy MORE stuff, heehee. Here is the card she came up with in a matter of mintues .....

We used a texture plate on the background, but you can't really see it in this picture. I am loving the new Spice Cake Designer Buttons as well. We did something a bit different for the sentiment. We first used the Petal Cone Die to cut out a flag shaped piece of Peach Parfait cardstock. Then we folded it - offsetting the ends - and put a brad in it to hold it together. A bit of sponging and voila, there it is.

Port Alberni Fall Fair 2011

It was our annual Fall Fair this past weekend in Port Alberni, BC. I decided at the last minute to enter a few things into the Crafts section of the fair. I entered a single scrapbook page, a double scrapbook page, a creative 5x7 scrapbook, a homemade calendar, an embossed card, a card with embellishments and a hand stamped card. I managed to come home with a "few" ribbons that turned out to be all blue, plus one extra very colourful one. Here is a picture of my entries and ribbons.....

Just goes to show you, that anyone can enter and win! Even at the last minute.

Embossed Gifts Of Christmas

Today I am sharing a card with you using the set Gifts Of Christmas. I used the Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz on all layers of the Very Vanilla cardstock ....

Perfect Plum Stitched Stockings CASEd card

I saw Sandi MacIver post a card on Sept 7th and I decided I would case it. HERE is a link to Sandi's card. And here is the card I created ....

I used the Doily Triple Layer Punch to create the right hand edge and the colours are Perfect Plum and Very Vanilla. I made my leaves out of the Silver Glimmer Paper. I love how Sandi used the new Vanilla Velvet Ribbon for the top of the stockings.

I used the Lots of Tags Label #1 die to cut out the layer for the sentiment. I took a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock 1-1/4 x 5" and folded it in half. Then I put it over the die down from one end and cut it out. It had a bit of a bend in the middle, so I added some shimms to my big shot, put the piece between the two clear cutting mats and ran it through the Big Shot, basically squishing it. And it "ironed" out the bend. Too cool! Then I mounted it on a piece of Perfect Plum cardstock and hand cut it out.

Wheel, Shimmer Paint & Simply Scored Technique Card

This little mini 3"x3" card is made to showcase a Stampin' Jumbo Wheel, the new Simply Scored Tool and Shimmer Paints.

I used the Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel and Wild Wasabi Classic Ink to create the background on this card. I made the medallion flower out of a piece of Beyond The Garden designer series paper and the new Simply Scored tool by Stampin' Up!. I also used the Scallop Edge Punch before I scored and folded the flower. Here is a closer view of the flower ....

You can see the bling in the center of the flower. I spritzed the Daffodil Delight circle with Champagne Mist Shimmer Spritz before I ran it though my Big Shot with a texture plate. You can also see the bling on the Not Quite Navy layer between the two Whisper White layers. I used a dauber to run some of the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint right out of the bottle. Oh the bling!!!! The leaves are made using the Little Leaves Sizzlits Die.
I also made a bigger version of the medallion flower ...

I did not use the Scallop Edge Punch on this one, and it has a few more layers in the center. But I still have bling on the Daffodil Delight center!

You can see a bit of the bling in this picture.

Triple Layer Punch and Double Embossing Technique Card

The second card I have ready for my workshop later this month uses the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch and the technique Double Embossing. The Double Embossing will show the ladies how to use Stampin' Up!s Embossing Folders and Embossing Powders. I made a full sized card liket this little one a while ago, but thought I would show this one to you anyways ....

I used the stamp set "Easy Events" for the stem and Finial Press Embossing Folder with Melon Mambo Embossing Powder.
So that's 5 techniques down in two cards, and 7 more to go. I will be busy over the next few days, and will share the cards I make with you.

Blender Pen Technique Card

Later in the month I am having a workshop and the hostess asked if I could do some small technique cards using a list of Stampin' Up! products she provided me with. The first card I created uses Blender Pens, Texture Plates and Chalks .....

I showcased three different ways to use the Blender Pen. First (the top 3 flowers) uses Chalks to colour the flowers that were stamped with StazOn ink. Second (the bottom 3 flowers) uses Classic Ink Pads to colour the flowers that were stamped with StazOn ink. And finally, the bird is stamped in Classic Ink - Rich Razzleberry - then the blender pens are used to pull colour from the stamped lines to colour the image. I used Champagne Mist Shimmer Spritz on the background (will show them how to make their own spritz) and one of the Texture Plates is used (the small dot one) to put texture on the background, but you can't see it in the picture.
A lot is packed into a small card, but I think they will enjoy making it and playing with Blender Pens.

Language of Friendship

Back in January I posted THIS card that was a case from Chat W. I never did get around to including it in a class before the stamp set - Punch Potpourri - retired. Now that Language of Friendship is out (main catalogue, page 101, Wood Item 122750 - $19.95 or Clear Mount Item 122752 - $14.95) I remade the card using it.

I stuck to my original colour scheme of Marina Mist and Cajun Craze with Whisper White because I love how they go together.

This stamp set - Language of Love - comes ready for punching. It matches the Bird Builder punch (page 213, Item 117191 - $22.95) and the Boho Blossom punch (page 210, Item 119858 - $22.95). The stamps even come in the formation you need to match the punch! You can't get much easier than that. I always order the Clear Mount stamps and once I get them ready to use, I cut them apart! I know, GASP!! But it allows me to stamp only the image I want when I want, or use the whole image together punch ready. I will show you what I mean. Here is my Language of Friendship stamp set and how I get it ready for me to use.

As you can see, the flowers and the bird/wing/branch are all set up for the Bird Builder and Boho Blossom punches. This is how I keep my stamps inside the case.

I always keep the entire rubber that comes with it so I know when I put away the set, that I have all the stamps. This came from a hard learned lesson. I have one stamp set - Tote-ally Tess - that I lost one of the stamp images from. She has very small stamps that go with her, and I believe it got swept into the garbage along with some stuff from my craft table.

In this picture you can see how I cut apart the flower image into 3 pieces so I can stamp any of the images separately. Because they are clear mount, I can place them all on an acrylic block and stamp them all at once then just punch them out with the Boho Blossom punch.

Here is the bird image and how I cut that one apart.

And, finally, I have been asked how I keep track of all of my stamp sets. Well, when I get them in I assign a number to the stamp set - you can see this in the picture of the stamp set box above (well just barely). In the top right hand corner there is a number (you can just see the bottom of it). I use a label maker and mark the number on the front and side of each stamp set. I get a photocopy of the stamp label and it goes into a book that has all the Stampin' Up! stamp sets I have ever owned in numerical order. Each of the stamps gets a tiny number on it too so I know which stamp set it comes from just incase one gets misplaced, or I have lots of them out during a creating session! Here is what the bird/wing/branch image looks like with the numbers on it.

This numbering system has saved my buns more than once when I have stray stamp sets. Also, when someone asks me which set a particular image comes from, I can go to my book and tell them, and show them the rest of the images from that set. Also, I take most of the sentiments out of each box and group them together - Birthday - Thank You - Love - Sympathy - etc. Makes it easier to decide what sentiment image I want, and allows me to put the sets back together when they retire.
Yup, I am anal retentive that way, but the system works for me. I also have an excel spreadsheet that lists all my stamp sets numerically so when I want a particular stamp set, and can't remember the number, I just search it out on my database, then go to my cupboard and voila, there it is!

Convention Make 'n Takes - Project #4

This was the super, over the top project from Convention 2011! In this one we covered (or "altered") the new Card Keeper Box from the Holiday Mini catalogue - (page 35, Item 124107, Stampin' Card Keeper, $10.95). It's only $10.95 (Canadian price) can you imagine!!!!

The top is covered with the Timeless Portrait Designer Fabric (main catalogue, page 196, Item 122337, $12.50). The box comes with templates so you can cover the top and / or the sides and bottom. The plate where the word "Cards" is not attached when you get the box so you can decorate behind it as we did here, before you attach the plate and add the sign.
Here is a picture of the fabulous flower that adorns the top. It has a Clear Crystal Simply Adorned Bauble in the center and about 5 layers of petals punched out using the Blossom Petals Punch.

Oh how great this will be for a special Christmas gift filled with home hand crafted greeting cards of all types. A special gift for someone who has everything. Nothing is better than hand crafted in my opinion.
I hope you get to alter some of these great boxes. The quality is superb, they are very sturdy and the white is not glossy exactly, but very, very smooth and luscious to the touch.

Convention Make 'n Takes - Card #3

I changed this little 3x3 card a lot from the original one. But I think it turned out ok ...

I stamped the flower blossoms on Cherry Cobbler cardstock and cut them out. Then I adhered them to the card front for a bit of paper piecing.

Convention Make 'n Takes - Card #2

Back again today with a quick card I made from the Make 'n Takes at Convention this year ....

Another bright, happy card! I love the ribbon treatment. I always learn exciting new things when doing the projects from a Stampin' Up! event. The 1/8" Taffeta ribbon is layered on top of the 3/8" Ruffled ribbon. So cute! Little Basic Pearls on teh flower centers really finish it off.

So Glad You're Here

There is going to be a big reunion in our town soon (50th) for the local high school. The organizers were looking for items to put into goodie bags for the participants. I offered to make small welcome cards. I made them 2.75 x 2.75 because I wanted to use 8.5 x 11 paper and 1/2 of 11 is 5.5 and 1/2 of 5.5 is 2.75 - see the reason now?
Here is what I came up with.....

I stamped the leaf swirl image from Best Friends Forever in Always Artichoke. Then stamped the bird image from the Language of Friendship set in Pacific Point on separate very vanilla cardstock and punched and the wing out. The words are from Petite Pairs and they are in Early Espresso.
They wanted to make sure we included our company information as it was to showcase local businesses as well as welcome participants back into Port Alberni for the reunion. So inside I stamped the Stampin' UP! stamp I got at convention, and a personalized stamp that has my contact information on it.
I hope they like them!
