Dashing Deer Card Share

Hi Friends

I hope you had a great week and are looking forward to the weekend.  When you are "retired" as we are, the only thing that defines weekdays vs weekends is we get to see the grandchildren during the day!

I love being my own boss and setting my workdays as I want.  It's great to schedule time for other important things.  Today, a friend and I are heading out for lunch and a bit of shopping therapy.  We live in a small town that does not have much shopping beyond walmart, so going to the "big city" which is an hour away, is special.

Today I have a card I created with the new Dashing Deer bundle from the 2018 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue.

I inked up the Woodland embossing folder with Crumb Cake ink, then ran a piece of Whisper White through it.  To make a good job of the inking, I first daub some ink directly from the ink pad onto the inside of the embossing folder. You want to do this on the side that the trees are embedded so you are only adding ink to the background.  Then I used a sponge to spread the ink around. You don't want to get too much on it, or too little and using the sponge allows you to control this a lot better than just pouncing the ink pad right on to the embossing folder.
When you run it through the Big Shot, make sure you go slowly and use a shim (or two) to get good pressure on the plates. This allows the ink to get good contact with the cardstock and transfer the ink completely.

Here's a close up look at the Wink of Stella I added to the deer's antlers.

The deer was cut out of some Early Espresso cardstock, then I used the Swirls & Curls embossing folder to add some texture to it.
Here's the recipe for this card:
Early Espresso base - 8-1/2 x 5-1/2
Gold Glimmer 5-1/4 x 4
Whisper White 5 x 3-3/4, 4 x 1-1/2
Early Espresso 3-1/4 x 3-3/4

I also used:
Merry Merlot and Copper Reversible Ribbon
Woodlands and Swirls and Curls embossing folders
Dashing Deer stamp set
Detailed Deer dies
Lakeside Dies (for the sentiment)
Crumb Cake and Early Espresso classic ink pads.
