One Day Stampin' Mini Retreat - Christmas Edition

I recently completed the latest One Day Mini Stampin' Retreat.  I do this twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall.  The fall one is Christmas themed.  I will be sharing cards from the retreat over the next few posts.

Here is the first one we did - it uses the Embellished Ornaments stamp set and Delicate Ornament Dies.  These products can be purchased in a bundle and you save 15% off the retail price.

This card has lots and lots of bling on it.  As the saying goes, everything is better with bling!!

Jingle All The Way Bundle Christmas Card #3

In my classes, we usually make 3 different cards.  Participants can choose to make 3 cards (one of each) or 6 cards (two of each).  This is the third card in my Jingle All The Way Bundle Christmas Card Class ....

This one is also cased from the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue (page 12).  During the classes I always encourage creativity and say that I provide the supplies and ideas.  What participants make with them is up to them.  Some of the ladies embossed the greeting in White Embossing Powder instead of gold.  It was awesome!

I cut small bits of Daffodil Delight cardstock to fit behind the windows in the village.  It just adds a bit of contrast.  The village is die cut from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and is so sparkly and blingy in real life.

The hardest part of this card is gluing the gold stars onto the watercolour paper background.  The stars are punched using the Confetti Stars Border Punch.  We used the new Fine Tip Glue Pen.  It lets glue be placed exactly where you want it from a thin needle like tip.  Here's a picture of the glue pen ...

Are you thinking of becoming a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator?  If you don't already have a demo, I would love to help you sign up and become one of my Craft Room Stampers team members.  Email me and we can chat!

Jingle All The Way Christmas Card #2

Today I have the second of three cards we made recently in my Jingle All The Way Bundle Christmas Card Class.

I cased this one right out of the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue (page 12).  I love the catalogues not only for the great products in them, but for all the inspiration.

Here is a link to the last post where I shared the first card from the class ....

Jingle All The Way quick and simple Christmas Card

I recently had a class on the Jingle All The Way bundle.  The bundle includes the Jingle All The Way stamp set and matching Sleigh Ride Dies.

This is one of the cards we created .....

This card was so quick and easy but, oh my, does it pack a punch of glitter.

I used the new Thick Whisper White cardstsock by Stampin' Up! for the base.  The new thicker cardstock means that we did not have to add any layers to it to make it stand up!  We embossed the card base with the new Softly Falling embossing folder.  Then cut a piece of Red Glimmer Paper with the Sleigh Ride dies.  This was layered right onto the card base.  The sentiment, from the Lots of Joy stamp set, was stamped in Real Red on the Thick Whisper White cardstock and cut out with one of the Lots Of Labels dies (#3).  It was popped up on dimensionals.  That's it!  The card is finished.

Here's a picture of the Jingle All The Way bundle ...

Fast Fuse Video

One of the items on sale for this week's Weekly Deals is Fast Fuse.  This super strong sticky adhesive is great for attaching items that may have a bit of stress on them, as well as everyday adhesive.

There is a trick to using this product to make sure you don't have "tails" when you use it.  This adhesive can string out like mozzarella cheese does when it's melted.  All you need to do is finish your strip of adhesive off with a check mark.

Here's a great video by Stampin' Up! on how to do that ....

This week you can get the refill for this great product at 25% off.
Item # 129027 - reg $9.25 on sale for $6.94 until 11:59 pm (MT) Monday Oct 12th.

Don't forget to order the tool to use the refill as well ....
Item #129026 $12.50

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving weekend (Canadian friends).

Halloween Fun

I usually don't do Halloween cards in my classes or events. This year with all the awesome products in the new Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue I couldn't resist.

Here is one of the cards we recently did at my Monthly Stamp Club ....

At convention in July we were introduced to a great new (to me anyways) technique I call Tombo Splattering.  I used it on this card and it's a great way to add bling to any background.

To do this technique here is what you do:
1 - pour a blob of Tombo Multipurpose Glue into a plastic container (I used a button container)
2 - using an Aqua Painter add water to the Tombo until it is the consistency of creamed soup (the thinner the glue concoction is, the smaller your blobs of glitter will be
3 - load your Aqua Painter up with the glue mixture
4 - hit the Aqua Painter on your other fingers so that it splatters the glue mixture onto your background
5 - sprinkle glitter (I used gold glitter here) over the Tombo splatters
6 - tap off excess glitter back into your container
7 - let the background dry while you create the remainder of the card
8 - once it is dry use a very soft brush (like a makeup brush) to brush off the excess glitter

I even used this technique on the Black Glimmer Paper circle in the middle of the card with awesome results.  Why not give it a try?  This card was inspired by a card on Pinterest by Melissa Davies.

Stampin' 101 Class #2 - Embossing and Types of Inks

In this post on Sunday Oct 4th, I told you about the first class in my Stampin' 101 series for newer stampers.  Today I have the cards for the October class, the second one in the series.

In this class we played with Dry Embossing (using the Big Shot and embossing folders) and Heat Embossing (using VersaMark or Pigment inks and embossing powders).  I also shared the Emboss Resist Technique which is one of the basic techniques for card making.  We also discussed the different types of inks including:  Stampin' Up! Classic inks, Craft inks (pigment) and Archival Inks, Memento Ink, VersaMark Ink and StazOn ink.  Such a lot of fun we had!

Here are the two cards that the ladies had a choice of making.  They planned their card and cut the cardstock, then proceeded onto making the card .....

Stampin' 101 Class #1 - Layers and different kinds of paper cutters

Hello everyone!  I have been away for a very long time, but have decided to give it another try.  Sometimes life interferes with things.

In September I began a series of classes for the newer stamper called Stampin' 101.  We started with the basics and will progress through the basics of card making.  Also included will be some very basic techniques and tips.

The first class was Layers and Cutters.  I shared the sizes for layering on cards and what the basic sizes were.  We then went on to explore all the different kinds of paper cutters and their uses.  Yes, I have all the different types, if not all the different makes.

Here is the card we made.  The ladies cut their own cardstock and chose their own colours ....

Tip Top Taupe ....

Watermellon Wonder ....

Mint Macaron ....

Cucumber Crush ....

Delightful Dijon ...
