Best Of Halloween Flip Card #2

It is not often I am able to share an original card, but this is one of them ....

This is the second card for our grandsons.  Last post was the first one, and this one will go to the other special child in our lives.  Having grandchildren has brought back so many awesome activities into our lives..... running and jumping in puddles, bike riding through trails, playing lego, and enjoying Halloween!  Used a couple of retired products on this card, but it just needed to have them!  The Spider Web embossing folder is no longer available, and the spider is from the stamp set Googly Ghouls.  Spiders are NOT a favourite thing of our oldest son!

Stamps:  Best of Halloween, Googly Ghouls
  Ink:  StazOn, Tangerine Tango
  Markers:  Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi
Paper:  Tangerine Tango, Whisper White, Basic Black
Other:  Label Card Thinlits Die, Witches Brew Washi Tape, Owl Punch, Googlie Eyes, 3/4 in circle punch (to make a circle to draw the moon in behind the owl on the tree, just draw around it)

Hope you have a scary Halloween!  Happy Stampin* . . . . .

Best Of Hallowe'en Flip Card

Hallowe'en cards are not big on my list of things to do, but now that we have grandchildren, I make them  .. .. ..

Hallowe'en is their very favourite time of the year, they love all the ghouls, ghosts, scary undead figures, everything Hallowe'en.  This card (that I cased from Sandi MacIver) uses the Witches' Brew DSP and the Best Of Hallowe'en stamp set that Stampin' Up! released for one of their Best Of 25 Years stamp sets.  The house and owl in the tree are awesome stamps and I can't wait to share this card with one of our grandchildren.  I will be posting another Hallowe'en flip card next post that I will give to the other grandson.

  Stamps:  Best of Halloween
  Ink:  StazOn
Markers: Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie
Paper:  Pumpkin Pie, Witches Brew DSP, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White
Other:  Circle Card Thinlits die, Scallop Circle die from Circle Card Thinlits, 1-3/4" Circle Punch, Witches' Brew Washi Tape

Not long now till the big night.  We head over to our son and DIL house to share Hallowe'en with them as we don't usually get any trick or treaters at our house.

Double Easel Card

This Double Easel card adds a bit more to the regular easel card ....

Every Wednesday morning I get together with the local Seniors Club and a bunch of really great ladies.  These ladies could teach me a thing or two about card making as most of them have been creating cards for a long time.  But they always graciously accept the cards I bring to create with them.  Every once in a while I am not able to join them, then one of them will bring a project to share with the others.  The Double Easel card was one of them. Luckily I asked them to bring their project with them the next week so I could see what they did.  Even better, the creator of the card brought me my very own sample to take home! Thanks, Karen F!!!!  I used her idea (her's was a different size from mine) and created an A2 size card (the normal size 4-1/4 x 5-1/2") and used Stampin' Up! stamps.  This is what I came up with ...

Stamps:  Serene Silhouettes, Papillon Potpourri, Label Love
Ink:  Chocolate Chip, Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Chocolate Chip Marker (to make the birds)
Paper:  Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Cajun Craze
Other:  Artisan Label Punch, Bitty Butterfly Punch, Basic Rhinestones

The biggest thing with this card is to make sure the piece inside that holds the flaps when the cards is open, is high enough to hold them solidly.  I used two dimensionals stacked on top of each other to make it high enough.  You can go to youtube.com and search for "Double Easel Card" and you will find some video tutorials on how to make this card ....

Modern Medley Swallowtail Card

The second card we made to go with the Modern Medley folded box I shared with you two posts ago, is this great Swallowtail card ...

I got this idea from Cathy Parlitsis who posted the following card in THIS POST.  The card was made originally by Jessica Rodulfo.   I also made the original card, it is so blingy and great ...

The background behind the Swallowtail is Silver Glimmer Paper!  Yup lots of bling!!!  LOL  The Swallowtail is stamped twice in VersaMark then I used Black Embossing Powder. The bottom one is cut out around the outside, including the antenna. The top one is cut just below the white part of the swallowtail on the right wings then you pop up the wings on dimensionals, and the body is flat upon itself.  I had to add some rhinestones for the body and to add some bling on my version.

Recipe for my version of the card ...
 Stamps:  Swallowtail
 Ink:  VersaMark
Paper:  Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Modern Medley DSP
Other:  Black Embossing Powder, Basic Rhinestones

Modern Medley DSP Card - Convention Swap Card

This was another card I received as a Convention Swap in July at the Stampin' Up! Annual Convention in Salt Lake City.  This one was produced by my friend Barb Tripps of Comox, BC.  She does not have a blog, but I think she should as she is very talented and only her stampin' friends get to see her work ...

Bar used Everything Eleanor stamp set by Stampin' Up! along with the Modern Medley DSP.  The Fancy Fan Embossing Folder provides even more texture, as if you need it on this card.  But, oh my, it's awesome ...

Stamps:  Everything Eleanor
Ink:  StazOn (or Basic Black)
Paper:  Very Vanilla, Basic Black, Modern Medley DSP
Other:  Fancy Fan EF, Labels Dies (#2 and #3 counted from the smallest one), Basic Rhinestones

This card was one of the two cards we made to go in the Modern Medley Folded Box I showed you in my last post.  These two, plus the card I will share next post, were the projects we made in my 3D Class in September.

Modern Medley Folded Box

Another one of my September Classes was this awesome box made with the equally awesome Modern Medley Designer Series Paper by Stampin' Up!

Here are some pictures of the inside, it folds quite uniquely ....

I just love this DSP.  Every project I make with it looks so great.  It is like comfort food ...

Stamps:  Layered Labels
Ink:  StazOn (or Basic Black)
Paper:  Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Modern Medley DSP
Other:  Blossom Punch, 7/8" Scallop Circle Punch, Itty Bitty Circle Punch, Apothecary Accents Die, Chipboard (from the Glimmer Paper packages), Silver Brad

I think I may make a few of these to give for Christmas presents this year.  I will be sharing the 2 cards we made along with this box, over the next 2 posts.

Sandpiper Thoughts - Convention Swap Card

To round out my Easy Stamp-A-Stack I used this card that I also received at Convention.  It did not have a name on the back of it, but if it belongs to you, please email me and I will give you credit ....

This card uses a sponged background with the Sandpipers from one of my all time favourite stamp sets - Wetlands, stamped in Early Espresso on top.  To make the "frame" you cut a scrap piece of cardstock the same size as the layer you are stamping on.  Then using the Stampin' Up! Paper Trimmer you start the blade one inch in from the side and at the 1" mark on the ruler.  Then you cut to within 1" of the other side.  When you do this on all 4 sides, you get a rectangle hole in your cardstock, this is your mask for sponging.  You lay the mask on top of the cardstock and sponge within the limits of the "hole".  When you lift it you have the sponging in a rectangle in the center of the cardstock, leaving a frame around the rectangle that is plain, or a frame!  It's really easy to do ..

Stamps:  Wetlands (sandpipers and sentiment)
Ink:  Coastal Cabana, Baked Brown Sugar, Early Espresso
Paper:  Coastal Cabana, Very Vanilla
Other:  Mask made out of scrap cardstock, sponges

Try this technique out on your next card.  It can be used with any stamp set . . . .

Lattice Die Butterfly Card Share - Convention Swap

Today's share is another card I received in a swap during the Stampin' Up! Convention in Salt Lake City in July .....

This card was created by Connie LaCroix.  Thanks, Connie, I love this card.  It is so simple, yet so striking.  I decided back in August to use this card in my Easy Stamp-A-Stack at the beginning of September.  Never did I think Stampin' Up! would have the Papillon Potpourri stamp set and the matching Bitty Butterfly punch on special if you bought the bundle!  Wow was I ever lucky ...

Stamps:  Papillon Potpourri
Ink:  Basic Black, Primrose Petals
Paper:  Whisper White, Basic Black, Primrose Petals Core'dinations
Other:  Perfect Polka Dots EF, Sanding Block, Primrose Petals Stitched Satin Ribbon, Bitty Butterfly Punch, Lattice Die

I have owned the Lattice Die for quite a while now and have only just started using it.  In September I challenged myself to use some long neglected (but not forgotten) Stampin' Up! products and some little used techniques.  This die was one of the neglected tools.

Zoo Babies Card Share - Cased Card

I recently took a "class" from Ronda Wade and Maggie Patterson.  One of the projects was this great card using the Stampin' Up! stamp set, Zoo Babies ....

I used this card for my Easy Stamp-A-Stack class in early September.  I left the sentiment spot blank and the ladies were able to choose a birthday or baby sentiment to finish off their card.  I think you could use this one for a belated birthday as well.  The images in this stamp set are just so darned cute, I love all of them.

Stamps:  Zoo Babies, Sentiment of your choice
Ink:  Smokey Slate, Coastal Cabana
Paper:  Smoky Slate, Coastal Cabana, Whisper White, Coastal Cabana Patterns DSP
Other:  Largest Circle Die (the scalloped one),  Coastal Cabana Ruffled Ribbon, Neutral Candy Dots

Why not step out of the box and use a stamp set for something other than what it was intended for.  Like use a baby themed stamp for a belated birthday, or a tree stamp for a Christmas card, or ?????

Ice Cream Cone Birthday Card

This card uses lots of texture and punches to create a sweet Ice Cream Cone birthday card ...

This card was inspired by one I saw on Mary Fish's blog.  I changed it a bit, but really like the overall outline and the idea of the Ice Cream Cone.  Who does not love an Ice Cream Cone on a hot summer day?  You could use this card for a masculine birthday as well as a feminine one, for young or not so young family or friend.

   Stamps:  Create-a-Cupcake
   Ink:  Basic Black, Crisp Cantaloupe
Paper::  Whisper White, Pool Party Core'dination, Crisp Cantaloupe, Daffodil Delight, Polka Dot DSP
Other:  Square Lattice EF, Petite Pennants Punch, Build A Cupcake Punch, Floral Garden EF

I used the Floral Garden EF to create the texture on the "ice cream" which was punched using the Build A Cupcake Punch.  The "cone" is punched using the Petite Pennants Punch.  How cleaver is that?

Z Fold Best of Flowers Card

I paired the Best Of Flowers, Papillon Potpourri and Hello, Doily sets to create this Z Fold card ...

These Z Fold cards are so interesting and I love making them.  I used the Quatrafoil Specialty DSP and added some Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie inks for a pop of colour.  No matter how many times I use Hello, Doily I am pleased with the outcome.  I used the Old Olive and Daffodil Delight markers to colour the daisy stamp, then used a dauber to add some Pumpkin Pie on the ends of the flowers.

Stamps:  Hello, Doily, Best of Flowers, Papillon Potpourri
   Ink:  Island Indigo, Pumpkin Pie
   Markers:  Old Olive, Daffodil Delight
Paper:  Island Indigo, Whisper White, Quatrafoil Specialty DSP
Other:  Designer Frames EF (hand cut out), Bitty Butterfly Punch, Basic Rhinestones coloured with a blue Sharpie marker

I hope you get a chance to try one of these Z Fold cards.
1.  Cut a piece of cardstock 11 x 4-1/4" (for the base)
2.  Score at 5-1/2 & 2-3/4"
3.  Cut a piece of cardstock 2-1/2 x 3-1/4 (for the piece on the front)

3D Bath Salts Holder - Roomie Gifts

I recently went to the Stampin' Up! Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah.  It is a tradition to make your roomies (and demos you travel with) Pillow Gifts.  This was my gift this year ....

I purchased some nice smelling bath salts and poured them into small ziplock bags.  Then popped them into these holders so they showed through the window in the front.  I used the Petite Pocket die (retired) to cut out the basic form, then the Apothecary Arts Framelits Die to make the hole in the front.  The Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder (retired) put the texture in the Baked Brown Sugar cardstock. I made sure I sponged all the edges all the way around.  The flower is from the Secret Garden stamp set and I cut it out with the Big Shot and the Secret Garden Framelits Dies - did not even have to hand cut the flower!!!!

   Stamps:  Secret Garden, Label Love
Ink:  Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloupe, Baked Brown Sugar
Paper:  Baked Brown Sugar, Very Vanilla
Other:  Petite Pocket Die, Apothecary Arts Framelits Die, Vintage Wallpaper EF, Sponges, Secret Garden Framelits Die, Facetted Button, XL Basic Pearl, Paper Piercing Tool

I hand cut the flag ends on the sentiment, then poked a row of holes down each side for more interest.  Some of the "Pillow Gifts" were awesome.  I was in the company of 5800 very talented Stampin' Up! Demonstrators!  Oh the synergy was amazing ....
