Scrapbooking - James' Book - Nine Months

Here is the matching page to yesterdays post (Eight Months). I added a couple of half circles down by the journalling strip to this page. I liked it so much, that I went back and added them to Eight Months as well. The top of the white paper on the picture on the left hand side is where James' head hight is, poor old Cookie Monster sure looks short now.

I enjoy seeing the changes from the first month and each month along. I am sure thankful we did these pictures, they will be cherished all his life.
He is definitely a Cutie Pie - 9 Months old and a going concern. I used the same alpha die, thickers, and cardstock for this page as I did on the previoius one.
I hope you have a very safe and Happy New Year's Eve tonight. Please don't drink and drive! I will be back next year for the first blog post of the year - Ten Months, January 2009.

Magnolia Card - Barefoot Edwin - Mojo119

This is my very first Magnolia card coloured with Copic Markers. It is my entry for the Mojo Monday Week 119 Sketch HERE.
This started out as a card for a new Baby Boy, but I think it will take me a while to let go of it. I sometimes have issues adopting out my creations!
The card measures 5.5" x 5.5". The cardstock and papers are all Stampin' Up. I used Whisper White for the base, then a layer of Chocolate Chip, and a layer of a retired Designer Paper "Afternoon Tea". I also used Soft Sky, Kiwi Kiss and Groovy Guava cardstock. Here's the picture of the cardfront:
I used my nestability to cut out the Chocolate Chip scallop square and cut a piece of Soft Sky to fit in the middle of it. Then I ran a strip of Chocolate Chip 1" Satin Ribbon out to the left edge and under the first Chocolate Chip layer. I put a piece of a different patterned DSP from the same package on top of the ribbon. I used my nesties again to cut out both circles (soft sky and whisper white). I had already stamped and coloured the Barefoot Edwin image on the Whisper White piece. Edwin has Irridescent Ice embossing powder (also SU) on his wings. The Martha Stewart leaf punch in Kiwi Kiss was used for under the sentiment and the flower. The sentiment is Chocolate Chip Scallop Oval, then Soft Sky Large Oval, and finally Whisper White Small Oval punches and a sentiment from the Short And Sweet SU set.
Here is a close up of the flower embellishment:

I tried to make the flower from the first Magnolia INK magazine (on page 64) without having that punch. I used the retired SU punch "Snowflake" and cut off the rounded tip pieces, leaving only leaf-like points. These were folded in half and I rubbed some Sahara Sand ink on them with a dry short bristle paint brush. I layered on in Groovy Guava over one in Soft Sky. Then I put a silk flower from the Pretties Kit under them. I used a brad from Doodlebug Design Boutique Brads - Lily White Assortment to hold all 3 layers together. More MS leaf punches in Kiwi Kiss cardstock are under the flower embellie.
I can't thank my good friend Candy (HERE is a link to her blog) for the Colouring Tutorial she came over and gave me yesterday. She interrupted her whole day to bring her Copics to my house to play, and I truly appreciate it! Visit her blog, boy is that one talented lady!
Thanks for looking, Happy New Year to you and yours.
Bye for now............... Glenda Mollet

Scrapbooking - James' Book - Eight Months

Another productive day. I got Eight and Nine months done. I will be done soon, only 3 months left to do.
Today is the Eight Month - November 2008. The pictures are covered up, I am sure you will understand. I wish you could see the pictures, he is the most happy boy and these two pictures are huge with laughter and giggles.

This is a real simple layout. It came together real fast. I like the simplicity of it, but there is still room for journalling. I used Thickers fror the month and year. The word "Giggle" is cut out using my Timeless Type Alphabet Junior in Certainly Celery. I punched 1-1.4" circles out of RealRed cardstock, cut them in half and used them for the border. The wavy Bashful Blue border and the star Bashful Blue border are stickers from the Simply Scrappin' Kit I am usind. How stinking cute is this?

Scrapbooking - James' Book - Five Months

This page is identical to the forth month page, just a mirror image. The flower on the big picture that says what month it is, is a bit different, but other than that, the colours and layout are the same. Here is an up close picture of some of the flower heads and pictures. Look at those facial expressions, how precious! I am sooooo glad we did this, and would highly recommend anyone who is expecting a new person in their family do these monthly pictures. It is well worth it!

These are the last of the pages I have done so far, but remember my New Year's Resolution. I WILL get these pages done. My goal is to get them done by the time we head back to Tofino the middle of March, hmmmmm, hope I do it!
What is your New Year's Resolution, leave me a comment, I'd love to hear what they are!
Happy New Year everyone........... Glenda Mollet

Scrapbooking - James' Book - Four Months

There was quite a lapse between me making the third month page, and this the fourth month page. I just decided to get at it, and created the next two pages in one evening, and part of the next afternoon. The fourth and fifth months face each other, so they are identical in colour and layout themes. The letters are Thickers, I know they are a bit blingy for a little boy's book, but I love bling and so does James. He goes home covered in it quite often. I wanted to include the 10 little pictures (5 per month) along with the big one as his facial expressions were priceless. So I hit upon the idea of making them into flowers. I used Nestabilities dies to make the flower heads in Certainly Celery, and the pictures are also cut using circular Nestabilities. The stems are just 1/4" strips and the leaves I hand cut and put through the crimper. As it was summer (July and August) I thought it fit in quite well. as usual the blank journalling area will be filled in by Mom and Dad.Well, I'm off for another day of fun and relaxation In My Craft Room. I'll be back tomorrow with month #5.................. Glenda Mollet

Scrapbooking - James' Book - Three Months

Well I hope you had a super duper awesome Christmas with your family and friends. Christmas morning with a toddler is the most special time. Santa was good to us, as usual, and brought family and friends together with food and fun.
Here is the 5th page in James's scrapbook - Month Three. We bought him a "Bouncey Chair". It is by Fisher Price and he could sit in it (with some tipping and holding up by Yaya) and bounce till his heart was content. This was one of his very favourite toys and he used it until he was about 13 months and was just too tall to make use of it any more. He loved playing with all the attached toys and moving things and of course it had music on it as well. He loved to laugh and giggle (and still does). Poor Cookie Monster, is the same size now. I love the perspective of having Cookie Monster sitting beside him, good choice Mom and Dad!. As this page faces the Two Month page, it has the same colour and layout scheme. The ribbon matches the ribbon on the previous page as well. (more blanked out pictures, sorry, but I am sure you can get the idea) You can see a bit of the previous page in the picture.
Bye for now, I'll be back tomorrow with the fourth month page.

Scrapbooking - James' Book - Two Months

What a difference a month makes in the life of a newborn! You can see his character coming out, and the smiles were awesome. Of course there were still some sleepy moments and Yaya just happened to capture one of them. As you can see, he is getting bigger, or Cookie Monster is getting smaller! (sorry but I am covering up James' pictures from now on, you never know who is looking)..........
On this page I put some Apricot Appeal for a bit of colour. It matches one of the stripes on his sleeper. Again some edging using the Eyeletter Border punch and some stars. I cut out the pictures with a Nestability die. The main one is backed onto some Whisper White cardstock that I punched the corners out with using the Eyelette Border punch again. I added some Bashful Blue striped Grosgrain ribbon and a bow on the bottom. This page, and the 3 month page following in a couple of day, face each other, so I kept them matching.
Thanks for looking again, one more sleep.......... I can hear his sleighbells ring, are you listening!

Scrapbooking - James' Book - One Month

This is the first picture taken of him with his number "1" on his date anniversary of his birth. This is a couch that was given to him at his Baby Shower, and Cookie Monster was a favourite of his at this age. This couch and Cookie Monster are a constant in the pictures each month. On this page I used Old Olive, Bashful Blue and Tangerine Tango. There is some ribbon and another edging strip made with the Eyelette Border Punch. I do not have the numbers yet to put on the pages, and the blank journaling area is for thoughts and comments from Mom and Dad. There is a calendar with all his firsts on it, and I am hoping some of them will make it into his book.
Here's the picture of the page for you to see......
Only 2 more sleeps till Santa comes. I can't wait, James is old enough this year to know what is going on. He knows that Santa will come and what Santa says. Christmas morning will be a treasure I am sure. I can foresee a scrapbooking moment or two..............
Thanks for visiting, talk to you tomorrow with the second month.

Scrapbooking - James' Book - First Page

This is the second page in our Grandson James' scrapbook of the first 12 months. These are pictures taken during his first month. He loved to sit like this for minutes at a time just looking and looking. He would just hang there, it was so cute. He would not keep his feet still, so we did not get pictures of them at this age, but I did get them later in his life.
I am keeping a bit of a theme with this book, using Bashful Blue 12x12 cardstock for the base of each picture, and some stickers out of the Rock-A-Bye Boy Simply Scrappin' Kit.

Here's the picture of the first page............

I made a brief journaling of my thoughts for him to read when he gets older. I also used Certainly Celery and Barely Banana on this page, along with some punched images and a border made with the Scallop Edge Punch and 1/8" circle punch. Thanks for looking, not long now until Christmas.................... Glenda Mollet

Scrapbooking - James' Book - Title Page

I am making a scrapbook of our Grandson James' first year. I read somewhere on the net that one Mom or Gramma made chipboard letters for each month of the first year. They took pictures in the same location each month on the day of the birth for an entire year. Then she made a scrapbook and put the numbers on the appropriate pages. I loved this idea and we decided to do it for James. So I made up the numbers, and decorated them differently, for each month. Then Mom (Heather) and Dad (Phil) took the picture each month on the anniversary of the date of his birth. I started this scrapbook a year ago, and I am just now getting around to posting the pictures. I have finished his 5th month page and I will share them with you over the next few days.

Today's post is the front page and I called it the Title Page. It is the first picture we took of him the day of his birth. He was approx 4 hours old. We have earlier pictures of him, but this is the one Grampa (known as Bapa) and Gramma (known as Yaya) - that's us - took of him. He had already had his bath, and was sleeping very peacefully. It also includes the poster with his details on it.The name is done in "Onboard Simon Upper" chipboard letters from SU. Then I coloured the letters using Baja Breeze classic pad. When that dried I traced the outline of the letters with the White Signo Pen. Then I put Dazzling Diamonds glitter on each one. The heart at the top is done the same way, except it does not have the white pen on it. The teddy bear images are on some paper I got from the bigbox craft store, I cut out the white paper from the middle and just used the outside strip with the animals on it.

I have been intimidated by scrapbooking and my New Year's resolution (one of them) is to Get On With It Yaya!!! James will be in high school before I get this done if I don't just do it. I will be sharing the rest of the pages with you. Thanks for looking.

Tote-ally Tess Mojo Monday Challenge 117

Yeay I got to do the Mojo Monday challenge this week. Its Thursday, but better late than never.
For this card I used some DSP I have not opened yet, and three of the new Clear Mount stamp sets from the SU Occasions Mini catalogue.
Tote-ally Tess is so fun to use. I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to make some Magnolia cards. My colouring leaves a LOT to be desired! But Tess allowed me to do some colouring that I can actually do, and make the card cute and do the challenge.
The first picture shows the card, then I tilted the second picture a bit so you can see the shine on the Groom Specialty DSP.

For this card I used:
Stamps: Tote-ally Tess, Messages For Mom, Well Scripted (inside sentiment)
Ink: Basic Black, Rich Rassleberry
Markers: Soft Suede, Crushed Curry, Creamy Caramel, Close To Cocoa, Chocolate Chip, Pretty In Pink
Paper: Raspberry Lemonade DSP, Groom Specialty DSP
Cardstock: Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White
Other: Basic Black 5/8" GG Ribbon, Scallop Circles die, Circles Die, Big Shot, Scallop Oval punch, Large Oval punch, Perfect Polka Dots T. Imp. Folder, dimensionals

I used the striped paper from the Groom DSP for the scalloped piece under the DSP. Then the leftover strips from the punching, I put together on top of the DSP and then made a bow (with my Bow Easy) out of the BBlack ribbon and put that on top of the strips. The large scallop circle is the swirly Groom DSP cut with the largest scallop circle from the Scallop Circle #2 die. The WWhite is cut using the largest of the circles from the Circles #2 die. I used my new SU Textured Impressions Folder - Perfect Polka Dots on the WWhite circle. Tess is stamped on WWhite in Basic Black ink which I heated to set it. Then I coloured her using the markers. Don't you just love her pink shoes? They are Melon Mambo and match her buttons on her shirt! This is a fabulous layout, as all of the Mojo Monday ones are! This will be one of the cards for my club which will start up in February 2010.
Happy Stampin' and thanks for visiting me

Little Chief Scrapbook Page

We have THE best neighbours in the entire universe. Can you imagine, you have just walked in the door after a tough day (shopping or working or whatever LOL) and the door bell rings. Just Me! announces our neighbour, Cathy, as she hands us a plate with a still warm from the oven batch of Peanut Butter Cookies!!! Well, that happens all the time, cookies, cakes, raspberries, tomatoes, all sorts of wonderful things. I wanted to do something special for them for Christmas this year. So I came up with this scrapbook page and put it in a frame for them. They absolutely love our Grandson, James and call him "Little Chief". When I was in my LSS last week I found this awesome paper by Three Bugs in a Rug. The set is called To The Rescue and is the Fire Engines and Little Chief pages. I added a bit of Riding Hood Red ribbon and a sentiment framed by one of the frames from the Matchbox XL Bigz die. There is one in Ruby Red and two offset behind it in Night of Navy.
I cut out one of the stickers that match the paper and stuck it on the mat at the front of the frame. I used Ruby Red and Night of Navy to frame the picture.
This was a lot of fun to make, and I know it will mean a lot to our neighbours! It also doesn't help that we also have the cutest Grandson in the entire universe!!! (Ok I may be a bit biased!) LOL
Have a super weekend........... Glenda Mollet (aka YaYa as James calls me)!

Hoot Owl Punchie Card

I cased this directly from the SU demo website. It's by Michelle Reynolds and her complete instructions can be found under "Home > Show & Tell > Stamping Challenge Ideas > Holiday/Winter Ideas" if you are a demo. The only difference is that I added a bit of sponging on the Close To Cocoa pieces of the owl to add a bit of depth. This card is sooooo cute. I can't wait to get the new punches to use on the bottom of the Pumpkin Pie piece. The new Scallop Trim Border that is coming out in the Sale-A-Bration catalogue. Good news, you can earn it for free beginning January 5, 2010!!!!
The Owl Punchie uses:
Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Close To Cocoa, Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron and Whisper White
Ink: Close To Cocoa
Punches: Round Tab, 1-3/4" circle, Scallop Circle, 3/4" circle, 1/2" circle, Double Circle, 5 Petal Flower, Boho Blossom
The card uses:
Stamps: On Your Birthday
Cardstock: So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie, Close To Cocoa, Whisper White
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Other: Pumpkin Pie Striped Ribbon, Lace Edge punch
This little guy is just so cute. I will be using him for my January Punchie Class and for my Sunshine Club Ladies on Wednesday.
Thanks for looking, have a super day tomorrow........... Glenda Mollet

Bloomin' Beautiful, Pretty In Pink....

I made this card a while ago, but did not post it. I stamped the image in Basic Black then hit it with the heat gun to dry it completely. Then I coloured it with Pretty In Pink, Regal Rose, and Mellow Moss markers. Once this had dried completely (I left it over night) I put Crystal Effects on just the flower head.
The background is the retired Floral Backgrounder stamped in Pink Pirouette. I layered the Whisper White Satin ribbon with Pretty In Pink Taffeta which has a basic knot tied in it.
The card is Pretty In Pink, then the background layer is Whisper White. Around the flower is Basic Black, then Pretty In Pink, then the image is stamped on Whisper White cardstock. This card is simple and elegant. I know I cased it from someone, but can't remember who it was. If you made this card first, please email me and I will give you credit. Thanks!!!

Glittered Christmas Tree Ornaments - Decorated

I took the ornaments I made in THIS post and used the Icicle Rub-Ons from Stampin' Up! and kicked them up a notch. They turned out so beautiful. I hope no one buys them at the craft fair tomorrow, then I can bring them home and put them up on our tree!

Here's a quick picture of the finished ornaments:

The rub ons are a bit tricky to get on the rounded surface, but they work really well, and are so easy to rub on!

Have a super weekend.... Glenda Mollet

Glittered Christmas Tree Ornaments

I fell in love with the Glittered Ornaments that have been shared. I went to youtube and watched a couple of videos to make sure I was getting it right. HERE and HERE. Then I just dropped the reinker into the clear ornaments and took a deep breath. I discovered a few things.
1. It says to use 20 drops of reinker, I only used 15 because I am cheap and did not want to waste all that reinker by just pouring it back out

2. It also says to use 1 1/2 tsp of glitter, well I just kept reusing the glitter I poured out and it all turned out great, you can't even tell it has been reused.

3. If you don't like the end result, just wash it out with some warm water, let the ornament dry out and redo it. It works like a charm.

4. The darker reinkers leave streaks where the reinker runs back into the ornament (you can't get all the excess reinker back out), I liked the results with the lighter reinkers better

I used (from L to R, top row first) Bermuda Bay, Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, and Glorious Green. I really like the Crushed Curry the best of all of them, but then gold and white is my theme, and this is real close to gold. The Tempting Turquoise one is fabulous also. I used Dazzling Diamonds Glitter for all of them. I have 6 more balls this size and 4 larger ones to do yet.
Thanks for looking, have a super duper day! .......... Glenda Mollet

Thank You Cards

When I first started out as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, I wanted to do something for my customers. So I started the tradition of giving each and everyone who places an order (through me or online) a hand made Thank You card. These cards are only 3x3 inches, but they pack a whallop! My customers are always commenting on the personalized touch, and I love making them. I usually grab some designer paper, have a basic idea in my head and whip out 10 or 15 of them at a time. I use 12x12 cardstock and cut the bases 3x6 inches. So out of each sheet of cardstock I get 8 cards. I use up a lot of leftover pieces of cardstock and designer paper making the card fronts. Here are some pictures of the latest ones I made.

On these ones I used up some Felt Fusions and some left over Brocade Backgrounds DSP. The main card is Barely Banana textured (as in this picture) or Certainly Celery textured (not shown).

For these ones I used Groovy Guava DSP and Night of Navy textured cardstock.

These are quick and easy cards, but my customers love them.

Along with this tradition, each November is my Customer Appreciation Month. For the entire month I have a Give Away Draw. Customers earn entries based on various criteria. At the end of the month I draw for the prizes. This month I had 35 of them. These items are things I collect all year long (SAB stuff, Hostess Gifts, etc. ). All of it is new and never used. There is ribbon, stamp sets, mini note kits, designer paper, cardstock, ink, etc. I took a lot of pictures, but will not post most of them here as they have faces of my customers and I promised them I would never post their pictures online. But here is one of the pictures I can share....... ahhhh the most important part of the day, the food!
Thanks for looking, I hope to be doing some more creating real soon. Check back tomorrow for a picture of the Glittered Christmas Tree Ornaments I did.
